C.P. Bourg to showcase multiple finishing solutions integrated with Xerox digital printers at drupa 2016

Press release from the issuing company

C.P. Bourg will be presenting three integrated print finishing solutions at the Xerox booth in Hall 8B, of the Messe Düsseldorf at drupa 2016, May 31st-June 10th.

Each of the three solutions will be exhibited in conjunction with Xerox technology and other print finishing partner products, demonstrating the extensive flexibility that C.P. Bourg brings to the production of a diverse range of products, from UV-coated business cards, to stitched booklets or books, and perfect bound books. page1image10816

Integrated solution for paper printed with UV coater

The Bourg Sheet Feeder (BSF) will be demonstrated in-line with the Xerox iGen 5 printer, the Tec Lighting Duplex UV Coater, and the Rollem JetStream trimming, slitting, scoring and perforating system. The BSF offers the highest level of compatibility with Xerox print engine stackers, and the three solutions together provide a fully automated process for producing UV-coated applications. With this configuration, printers can reduce production time and labor costs.

Using the dual-mode BSF positioned in-line between the printer and the finishing equipment, operators can easily shift between in-line and off-line/near-line modes, increasing productivity while maintaining the integrity of collated output.

Electronic orders can be written in JDF or JMF format and synchronized with virtually any type of digital printer and finishing equipment through the Bourg Box protocol converter. For integrity checks, the BSF can be equipped with a 1D and 2D barcode reader with real-time stats.

New end-to-end automated solution for stitched books & booklets

Also at the Xerox booth, a Xerox iGen 5 printer will be shown working in-line with the Bourg Booklet Maker, an integrated finishing solution combining the BSF, Bourg Booklet Maker (BM-e), Bourg Bleed Crease Module (BCM-e), and Bourg Square Edge (SQE). With this automated solution, no operator intervention is required from web all the way to finish.

According to Jim Tressler, Vice-President of Sales, C.P. Bourg Inc., “drupa marks the first time the Bourg booklet making solution for stitched books and booklets will be presented working in-line with the Xerox iGen 5 printer. It is the most integrated and automated booklet-maker C.P. Bourg has developed, and is sure to have a tremendous impact on the book making industry.”

The Bourg booklet-making solution (BSF + BCM-e + BM-e + SQE) offers the most flexibility on the market today. It accommodates paper path inversion (right-to-left or left-to-right) even post-installation.

The combined solution offers tremendous spine finishing flexibility, enabling both square back binding, which is ideal for books and booklets with either heavy paper and/or a large number of sheets, and for lay-flat binding, suited to smaller professional stitched booklets.

Perfect book binding

An off-line option is also available. A full integrity check of sheet by sheet/cover to content matching is achieved with the barcode system.

The unique variable knife creasing is ideal for making books with multiple flaps or publications with inner flaps, such as medical prescription books.

The third configuration to be displayed at drupa is the Xerox Nuvera® 314 printer working in-line with the Bourg binder solution – a combination of the BSF, the Bourg Perforating Rotating Folding (BPRF) and the Bourg Binder BB3202 EVA – and the CMT-330C Three-Knife Trimmer. The CMT-330C was developed by Challenge Machinery Company specifically for the Bourg binder solution.

“Xerox’s digital print technology combined with C.P. Bourg’s binding solutions and Challenge’s automated book trimmers together deliver the most advanced technology available to provide the foremost solution for automating the perfect-bound book manufacturing process,” commented Larry Ritsema, President/CEO of the Challenge Machinery Company. “It is a pleasure for Challenge to partner with such outstanding and reputable manufacturers, who each contribute unique expertise in providing customers with premier solutions.”

“The Xerox booth is an excellent place to see the versatility, productivity and quality made possible by combining C.P. Bourg finishing equipment with market-leading digital printing and complementary finishing products,” said Charles Bourg, CEO of C.P. Bourg Inc.
