Colter & Peterson’s Microcut Systems to be demonstrated at Dscoop Conference

Press release from the issuing company

Paterson, NJ – Colter & Peterson/Microcut will have a magnified presence at this year’s Dscoop digital printing conference in San Antonio, April 14-16. Besides demonstrating the Prism® P80 31.5” paper cutter with HP Indigo’s Direct-to-Finish finishing automation in HP’s booth, C&P will display in its booth (608) the industry-leading Microcut® automated back gauge system that makes any finishing department more productive.

“This is the very first time we are exhibiting at the Dscoop conference, and we anticipate having conversations with many of the digital organizations that attend,” said Bruce Peterson, President of C&P, which operates with five offices located from coast-to-coast.

“We are excited to partner with HP and be involved with their Direct-to-Finish automation. Any digital printer looking to capitalize on the growing trend of short-run work - and who combines it with our Microcut system - will experience dramatic results across-the-board. It will improve make-ready times and remove the bottleneck of getting a finished product out the door. These are realistic expectations when you pair two, world-class solutions.”

As North America’s undisputed leader and the largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment, C&P has for over 80 years excelled in manufacturing paper cutters and rebuilding pre-used machines. An overwhelming majority of both its new and old cutters are now equipped with the Microcut® automated back gauge system, which counts almost 30,000 installations globally.

Each of the five Microcut systems save time and money and can improve productivity for any print operation by 50% or more. It instantly recalls pre-set cutting sequences and automatically guides the back gauge blade into position to deliver highly accurate cuts within 1/64th of an inch.

At Dscoop, a Microcut PLUS WS program will be demonstrated on the Prism P80 paper cutter alongside an Indigo press in the HP booth, and another unit will be in Colter & Peterson’s booth. Both Microcut PLUS WS demos sport a 15” wide color touch screen for ease of use and include microcip® and microfacts® features. With microcip, users benefit from pre-set programs that can be uploaded via a network connection or USB device direct from the pre-press department. No additional hardware or software is necessary.

C&P officials also will explain the advantages of Microcut COLOR WS, Microcut JR and other systems. For example, Microcut COLOR WS has a dedicated group of users who praise its versatility, short and simple set-up time, and affordability. Microcut JR is a good choice for smaller shops that use paper cutters less than 37” in size, with advanced programming options such as label and sheet divide so complicated jobs are programmed with only a few data entries.
