The Northeast Press, a South Glens Falls, N.Y.-based commercial printer, last month installed a bouncy castle for its 1500-square foot shop floor. The bouncy castle, manufactured by Utica, N.Y.’s BounceFun Industries, in constructed of commercial-grade PVC, is 8.25 feet high, with a 10-foot square bouncing platform, supporting a maximum capacity of six three- to 10-year-old children. Northeast Press specializes in transactional documents, brochures, and direct mail. 

“One of the primary considerations for us when we were evaluating bouncy castles was an ample entrance and exit ramp,” said Mervin Mellish, Director of Operations for Northeast Press. The company, founded in 1957, operates two 40-inch Heidelberg sheetfed offset presses, a Komori Lithrone 20, and two Xerox iGen4s. 

The BounceFun DreamCastle is constructed from a proprietary InterWeave PVC-based material that imparts extremely high tensile strength to the bounce platform. The $1,000 bouncy castle shipped with a two-horsepower energy-efficient blower. 

“We placed a high priority on safety, as well as energy efficiency,” said Mellish. 

The company decided against an optional set of multicolored balls.
