SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) recently welcomed new supplier members Asia Pulp and Paper (APP,asiapulppaper.com) and Billerudkorsnäs (billerudkorsnas.com). Global producers of paper, pulp, and other renewable packaging substrates, they bring to the association a vast technical expertise as well as global business savvy.

Founded in 1972 and based in Jakarta, Indonesia, APP delivers paper, pulp, and packaging products to more than 120 countries across six continents. With a converting capacity of over 19 million tons per annum, APP is one of the largest vertically integrated pulp and paper companies in the world. Additionally, their strong commitment to sustainability has led them to develop their Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020, a set of targets focusing on forest conservation to be achieved by 2020.

Formed in 2012 with the merger of Billerud and Korsnäs, Billerudkorsnäs is headquartered in Frövi, Sweden. A leading provider of renewable packaging materials, Billerudkorsnäs focuses on three key building blocks to success: first-class packaging materials made from primary fibers, innovative packaging solutions, and a global network of partners. In addition to paperboard, the firm provides fluting, liners, sack paper, corrugated solutions, liquid packaging solutions, and more.

“On behalf of PPC’s Board of Directors and membership, I extend a warm welcome to APP and Billerudkorsnäs,” said Ben Markens, PPC President. “In our increasingly complex and global world, PPC turns to key players like them to help us think through what is happening in the market now, and what is coming down the road.”

A vital source of industry and technical education for PPC’s folding carton converters, supplier members serve as thought leaders at educational programs such as PPC’s Folding Carton Boot Camp, share their expertise through multimedia presentations at biannual conferences, and present their newest products and services during special events—ultimately building deep relationships with customers and prospects throughout the carton industry.

Additionally, PPC members enjoy access to exclusive industry benchmarking reports, studies, webinars, and legislative updates. They can also attend informative conferences and training sessions. and participate in publicity-generating programs such as TICCIT and the North American Paperboard Packaging Competition.
