Warren Launches Easter Promotional Gift

Press release from the issuing company

Warren, the UK’s leading independent carton and graphical board and paper stockist, has announced the launch of an Easter promotional gift, using Chenming’s virgin fibre grade, Poplar GC2 H/S 410 ums/250 gsm.

Stocked in depth at Warren’s Leicester warehouse, Chenming’s Poplar GC2 H/S is a fully coated, hard sized, white lined folding boxboard, with a cream back (GC2), and is aimed primarily for use within the frozen, chilled food, chocolate, confectionery and pharma market sectors.

Possessing good environmental qualities, Poplar GC2 H/S is Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified, meaning that the materials used in its production have been sourced from sustainably managed forests.

Chenming Paper is one of the leading paper manufacturers in China, with an annual production capacity in excess of 6m tonnes. They were the first enterprise in China to achieve ISO 9001 quality management system accreditation, ISO 14001 environmental management system accreditation and FSC® Chain of Custody certification.

Designed locally, the Easter cartons were printed by Anchor Print Group of Syston, Leicestershire, using their Komori 28 five colour and coater press.  The cartons were printed using a four colour process, with Huber Group’s Natura Low Migration inks. By using these inks it helps to ensure that the printed sheets were of a low odour, in order to minimise the risk of the chocolate being contaminated. Due to their properties, the inks don’t have the driers or hardening chemicals that are contained in normal lithographic inks, so a water-based low migration MGA Satin coating was applied in-line. The carton was designed using a reverse tuck end with a slit lock, in order to keep the lid firmly shut. The carton sheets were also die-cut using a flatbed Crosland platen, then side seam glued on a Bobst Media by Marpak, a Leicester-based trade carton finishing specialist.

Speaking about the production of the Easter cartons for Warren, Anchor Print Managing Director, Andrew Tramaseur, stated, “Having designed the product for Warren, we thought it was a perfect Easter promotional item. Both Anchor Print and Marpak are developing hygiene critical, contaminate free production facilities, so we decided - with Warren’s agreement to produce our own designs. Warren’s Poplar GC2 material provided an excellent coated surface, enabling us to achieve the vibrant colours in our corporate branding. We have had a great response to these items, with clients asking if they could have digital personalised cartons made.”

Marpak’s Director of Operations, Chris Goodayle, added. “Our reasoning for using the Warren promotional approach was very straight forward. It’s a simple idea with a fun, intimate, little spin aimed at connecting with not only our customer base but also our workforce. Little ideas like this help us stay focused on our customers’ overall experience with us -all year round.”

Kieran Ferguson, Warren’s Managing Director added, “Over many years, our name has become synonymous with Easter promotions. Chocolate give-a-ways are always well received by customers and what better time than Easter to produce chocolate packaging using one of our products. Chenming’s Poplar GC2 H/S is ideally suited to an Easter egg carton and an insert to hold the egg in place.”
