GMG Demonstrates ExpePrtise in Color Management and Proofing Technologies for Package Printing at FTA INFO*FLEX 2016

Press release from the issuing company

Exhibit at booth 618 focuses on OpenColor 2.0 and FlexoProof

Hingham, MA USA – GMG, the leading developer and supplier of high-end color management software solutions, will be focusing on OpenColor 2.0, the most recent version of the past FTA Technical Innovation award recipient at booth 618 during the 2016 FTA Forum's INFO*FLEX.

FTA’s Annual Forum is considered by thousands in the package printing and converting world to be the year’s only not-to-be-missed event. Each year welcomes fresh and exciting enhancements, and often bold, new initiatives with this singular aim: provide conference goers with the tools, techniques and knowledge to remain competitive and become a force for the future. INFO*FLEX is the not-to-be-missed event for the entire global package printing and converting community.

"GMG has been a leader in providing color management solutions for packaging for many years. It began with GMG FlexoProof, a proofing solution that is capable of simulating most effects unique to flexo printing," explains Joseph Varone, GMG Americas President. "It has progressed to GMG OpenColor, an award-winning proofing technology that precisely predicts the color appearance of printed inks, particularly overprints."

GMG OpenColor: Reliable proof profiles for packaging printing

GMG OpenColor, a recipient of a Flexographic Technical Association Technical Innovation Award and an InterTech™ Technology Award is the highlight on the GMG booth. With the increasing use of multi-color printing and different combinations of inks, substrates, screening, and other variables, packaging printing has become a costly process that involves a lot of color fingerprints and profile tweaking. GMG OpenColor answers this challenge by providing a proofing technology that precisely predicts the color appearance of printed inks, particularly ‘overprints’—inks printed on top of each other without requiring extensive fingerprinting.

OpenColor 2.0 becomes a much more significant application, with an easier user interface with easy to use connectivity to measurement devices, greater user control, and more power. Not only does GMG OpenColor continue to perform as an indispensable tool for major package printers; it now becomes an easier tool for smaller package printers, as well. With GMG OpenColor 2.0, each packaging product can be managed via a project folder, which holds all related information in one easily accessible place. The centralized data management ensures accurate and consistent results even across multiple sites. GMG OpenColor 2.0 comes with extensive correction tools for determining potential sources of error, optimizing measurement data and editing profiles. All corrections are visualized in a live preview. The GMG OpenColor multichannel test chart generator is the ultimate tool to create individual test charts for all packaging applications. Virtually any number of patches can be defined in various overprinting combinations and with full control of the separations.

GMG FlexoProof: Proof even challenging color and material combinations

The variety of substrates in Flexo print alone is a challenge for most proofing systems. Add a large number of spot colors and many proofing solutions become ineffective. GMG FlexoProof, however, has been comfortable working in these unique circumstances. GMG FlexoProof lets users create individual substrate structures such as paper fibers, embossed structures or corrugated board for proof output. Even unfavorable conditions such as printing on inferior quality paper can be simulated. GMG FlexoProof supports all standard spot color systems, with HKS and the Pantone® Library pre-loaded as standards.

GMG Partners at INFO*FLEX

During INFO*FLEX, GMG partners will also be exhibiting with a focus on GMG OpenColor 2.0 and GMG proofing solutions, including the Color Management Group (booth 131), Hybrid (booth 116), and Anderson Vreeland (booth 427).

"GMG has been an active exhibitor at INFO*FLEX, and we look forward to demonstrating to the elite flexo printers in the Americas our unique, accurate color management and proofing solutions," concludes Varone. "And, they can visit our partners to get a better perspective how GMG solutions fit within complete workflows."
