Pitney Bowes Announces Winners of the Sending Excellence Awards

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Press release from the issuing company

STAMFORD, Conn. - Pitney Bowes Inc., a global technology company that provides innovative products and solutions to power commerce, today announced the winners of its inaugural Sending Excellence Awards. The Pitney Bowes Sending Excellence Awards recognize small and medium businesses in the U.S. that demonstrate best practices and innovation in shipping and mailing to drive their business.

The pbSmartPostage online postage solution gives businesses, from small home offices to multi-location enterprises, a cloud-based platform to consolidate and streamline their shipping and mailing operations to reduce costs and maximize productivity. The pbSmartPostage platform has been redesigned to be easier to use and to provide comprehensive reporting tools and flexible payment options. In an independent, head-to-head comparison conducted by Performance Research and Design, the newest version of the pbSmartPostage solution ranked highest in accuracy and usability scores, and was the clear favorite – by a two to one margin – when compared to two other internet postage offerings, including Stamps.com.

“Today, more than ever, shipping and mailing power commerce,” said Mark Shearer, EVP and President, Pitney Bowes Global SMB Solutions. “We’d like to congratulate the winners of the Pitney Bowes Sending Excellence Awards. These companies are setting a new standard for small and medium businesses in the U.S. by optimizing their sending to boost their business and deliver greater value to their customers. Today’s shipping and mailing environment can be highly complex and overwhelming for small and medium businesses, but these companies have delivered. From sending healthcare records to American flags, they are powering their business with innovative shipping and mailing technology.”

The Pitney Bowes Sending Excellence Award Winners are:

  • DataFile Technologies, Kansas City, Mo.
DataFile Technologies is a leading healthcare technology company offering medical record fulfillment, scanning service, and other document management solutions. One vital aspect of DataFile’s business is the accurate and timely distribution of medical records for clients across the U.S. via fax, digital format or USPS. More than 30% of all the medical records DataFile distributes are sent via the USPS using the pbSmartPostage platform.

“pbSmartPostage has completely streamlined our process. We can now print return and destination addresses, postage and tracking barcodes all on one label. We can also run reliable and extensive reporting on all mail and parcels sent using pbSmartPostage,” said Josh Ridens-Nelson, Distribution Coordinator at DataFile Technologies.
  • Fig Tree & Co., San Leandro, Calif.
Fig Tree & Co. is a textile design firm that ships products, including notions, fabric bundles, specialty kits, and its own custom design quilt patterns, to customers around the world. As a design firm with no storefront, precise and accurate fulfillment is critical to Fig Tree’s business. The company relies on its shipping and mailing operations to serve its growing global customer base.

“We continue to grow and build a better business and we need our shipping partners to take care of our new demands and changing requirements. We keep growing thanks to great products like pbSmartPostage, which makes our shipping much easier than before and the reliability and customer service really is a game changer for us,” said Joanna Figueroa, Owner, Fig Tree & Co.
  • Eder Flag Manufacturing Company, Oak Creek, Wis.
In the nation's heartland, Eder Flag Manufacturing Co. has built a legacy of manufacturing quality products known for craftsmanship, quality and durability. Launched more than 100 years ago, Eder Flag has grown to become America's largest manufacturer of both flags and flagpoles. To meet the demands of its growing customer base, Eder Flag provides fast and convenient same day shipping. In 2015, Eder Flag shipped more than 86,000 packages in total, with more than 5,700 via the USPS.

“Before pbSmartPostage, we used to manually create shipping forms, and postal rates via USPS web tools. Using pbSmartPostage is a quick solution to comply with IMpb requirements, improves tracking for customers and maintains the commercial discount,” said Julie Ertman, Transportation and Logistics Manager, Eder Flag Manufacturing Company.
