Von Hoffmann Launches Creative and Prepress Powerhouse: Anthology

Press release from the issuing company

ST. LOUIS, June 18 -- Von Hoffmann Corporation, a leading North American educational and commercial printer, today announced plans to integrate the skills and capabilities of three industry leading organizations, Preface, H&S Graphics, and Lehigh Digital, to form one of the largest full- service creative through premedia businesses in the country to be named Anthology. "Our customers are looking for single source solution providers," said Robert Mathews, President and Chief Executive Officer of Von Hoffmann. "Today these solutions begin with product creation and design, proceeding through printing and binding, and continue into packaging, kitting, distribution and fulfillment. Some of the greatest opportunities for Von Hoffmann to serve our customers are in the creation and premedia phases of the product development cycle, where new complexities associated with versioning and multi-media production allow our customers to achieve market differentiation. Anthology will provide the greatest preeminent technologies and talent to assist our customers in adding value to their products," said Mathews. "Anthology will have a tremendous pool of experienced industry talent," said Jay Skilton, Senior Vice President of Anthology. "We will have a dynamic balance of creative and technical expertise. This unparalleled union will allow us to create, design and produce winning titles for publishers in a wide variety of file formats. With over 150 employees providing 24 hour production and service capacity, we will be able to respond to the needs of our clients for quality projects produced under today's highly compressed schedules. In the near future Anthology will be moving into our new facility in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The cost impact of this integration to our on-going operations and financial position will be insignificant." Phil Dickert, Vice President of Operations of Anthology said, "The new Anthology facility will include investments in technology that put us at the forefront of the industry. Investments will include a new server with 16 Terabytes of online storage, increasing page processing speeds by three to four times. Anthology will possess the latest LTO2 Technology with near line storage of approximately 200 Terabytes, and a high speed DS3 communication line that is essentially the equivalent of twenty-eight T1 lines bundled together as a unit. This will allow Anthology to transmit printing data to plants at local Ethernet speeds and will greatly accelerate the exchange of files between Anthology and publishers. Additional investments in Mass Transit, a file transfer software, will allow us to offer easy file drop off and delivery, integration with preflight and data tracking, and immediate feedback to customers on file deliveries and issues related to received files." "We have truly created a new model to better serve the industry," commented Paul Campion, Vice President of Sales for Anthology. "Our sales organization can offer our customers an unparalleled breadth and depth of capabilities and services."
