Speedfast Color Press Inc. Continues To Strive For Maximum Quality

Press release from the issuing company

Toronto, Ontario - June 8, 2004 - The systematic approach to increase quality standards and service of their clients is both the driving force and the success of Speedfast Color Press Inc., located in Edmonton, Alberta. Speedfast is one of the largest solely-owned commercial printing companies in Western Canada providing graphic design, print, packaging, direct mail and fulfilment to their customers. Always striving for maximum quality and efficient processes will continually keep them in the forefront of our industry. In early July 2004, this growing international company is introducing a state-of-the-art Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 six colour press, with extended delivery and coater, which was globally introduced at the Drupa trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany recently. With a newly-designed PresetPlus Feeder, PresetPlus Delivery and new coating technologies, this printing press has raised the bar for both productivity and quality, to serve their customers' needs even better. Mike Steiner, Speedfast Color Press Inc's President, explains, "The acquisition of this new equipment is driven by our desire to continuously provide, not only a larger range of products for our customers, but also those of even higher quality, allowing us to excel in the global marketplace". With the implementation of several integrated Prinect products of which are PrepressInterface, ImageControl and CP2000 press console, make-ready time will be substantially reduced while maximizing colour accuracy. PrepressInterface will provide the capability to send the digital reference values from prepress utilizing CIP4 standards directly to ImageControl and the ink profiles to the CP2000 console of their new Speedmaster CD 102-6+LX simultaneously. This digital information can also be provided to their existing Speedmaster CD 102-5+L. Their operators will now be supplied with instant reference values with this technology, resulting in very accurate ink settings. Speedfast is the only company currently in Alberta with this ImageControl technology out of a handful of progressive customers across Canada. ImageControl is an offline spectrophotometric measuring system, which provides the means to measure the entire sheet rather than just the colour bars as a reference. These measurements can be sent to the press throughout the production run, to maximize colour consistency. Due to the fact that the ImageControl system accomplishes full image colour measurement, Speedfast measures the printed product rather than the disposed colour bar. This system will also benefit their existing Speedmaster presses for further colour process control. To maximize efficiency and optimize all processes involved, Prinect ManagementGate will collect the real time data from the production runs such as make-ready and productivity reports, so that crucial factors such as time, costs and quality are monitored closely. Important job information can also be collected in the ImageControl and CP2000 console so that repeat jobs are aided by consistent and accurate stored reference values. "Mike Steiner and Ian Burke, V.P. & General Manager, realize that their great team will not only complement, but be crucial to the success of these new technologies. They have a commitment of excellence and satisfaction to their staff like none I've seen before", states Donna Roth, Marketing Director.
