IBM: New Additions To Its Workgroup Family Of Printers

Press release from the issuing company

BOULDER, Colo., June 8, 2004 - Continuing the growth of its family of color laser printers, IBM today announced the Infoprint Color 1334 printer, an entry-level laser printer designed specifically for small businesses or workgroups requiring a fast, reliable monochrome printing solution, with capabilities for the occasional color job.  IBM also recently announced the Infoprint 1412.  With a small footprint and a low acquisition price, the Infoprint 1412 delivers the function needed to support small businesses and small workgroups.   A smarter solution for companies concerned about return on investment, IBM's workgroup laser printers have become the ideal alternative to inkjet printers.  Despite their deceptively low initial purchase price, inkjet printers are generally more expensive to operate than laser printers or multifunction devices, due to exorbitant ongoing costs per page and expensive cartridge refills. Cost-Effective Color Printing Finding the right balance between cost and performance can be challenging for companies searching for the best value in a printing solution, particularly when their needs extend beyond just monochrome printing. IBM's Infoprint Color 1334 offers customers an affordable answer to this challenge, allowing them to obtain quality color output, without sacrificing the speed they require for standard monochrome printing jobs.  The Infoprint Color 1334 features a powerful processor to increase efficiency and minimize the wait time for even the most complex printing requirements. With fast first-page-out times and high-speed printing (up to 30 ppm for monochrome and up to 8 ppm for color), users can sustain high levels of productivity throughout the day.  To further help lower print management costs and increase productivity, the Infoprint Color 1334 also includes MarkVision print management software for proactive real-time monitoring, as well as a simple user interface to improve and simplify device management.  Additionally, because of its small footprint, the Infoprint Color 1334 is ideal for customers with limited office space.   "We deliver value to our customers by helping them reduce their cost of output and improve their business productivity," said Paul Preo, manager, distributed printer product management, IBM Printing Systems.  "With the new Infoprint Color 1334, we're bringing to market an affordable solution that can help customers realize more return on their printing investment, while producing high-quality documents they depend on for their business." A Speedy Workgroup Alternative The Infoprint 1412 is the latest addition to IBM's monochrome line of workgroup printers.  An evolution from its successful Infoprint 1312, IBM's new monochrome laser printer now features faster page output (up to 27 ppm), an enclosed paper drawer, as well as a two-element toner cartridge. These new features make the Infoprint 1412 an ideal choice for small businesses and workgroups that require a versatile and affordable monochrome laser printer. Like the Infoprint 1334, IBM's Infoprint 1412 also features MarkVision print management software, as well as fast Ethernet, Token-Ring and Wireless networking capabilities, making it easy to install the printer to an organization's existing network, to decrease downtime and increase productivity.
