Docdata Invests in CMC Cartonwrap 1000

Press release from the issuing company

Docdata specializing in e-fulfilment, returns logistics and online payment services recently installed a CMC CartonWrap 1000 box on-demand system to more efficiently process single and multiple item orders.  Docdata offers modular services, yet clients can also opt for a full-service solution. Operating in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Poland and France, Docdata handles between 250.000 and 300.000 orders on a daily basis.

Since its founding in 1997, Docdata has invested in technologies that will allow them to continue their leadership position of being a frontrunner on implementing innovations in the e-commerce market.  The CartonWrap system is no exception in allowing them to gain higher productivity levels on their given floorspace, create a more efficient packing process and allows them to ship out less air and/or packaging materials/reducing CO2 footprint.

The CMC CartonWrap 1000 is a unique box on demand solution capable to wrap single and multiple e-commerce orders using corrugated fed from a fanfold stack.  Orders are scanned by an operator and placed on the inlet conveyor where a scanner detects the product 3 dimensions and triggers the feeding of corrugated to create the exact dimension box to match the products being shipped eliminating the need for fillers.  The order is automatically placed in the carton, the carton is sealed and the shipping label is automatically printed and applied to the parcel.  The PC ADD Control System was adapted to Docdata’s existing IT infrastructure to track the data /product according to the database to guarantee 100% integrity of the entire process.

"Docdata’s extensive experience in the fulfillment arena helped us to personalize the line to their existing workflow in order to guarantee the smoothest and easiest integration to their environment" commented Francesco Ponti, CMC CEO.

“This machine contributes to a further streamlining of our process, particularly in times of peak sales. We see an increase in the order numbers during peak times while the periods of peak sales is becoming shorter and shorter, this machine improves our ability to meet our client's promise to the online shopper, also in view of the expected continuing growth of ecommerce. Besides, the machine will be in use to process our daily basic load of orders.  We can have a higher capacity in our warehouse.  With this new packaging machine the time between an order online and shipping out the parcel can be further reduced.  A not unimportant side-effect of the machine is that it results in a more efficient transport because we ship out less air and we therefore contribute to a significant reduction of CO2 emissions” stated Jack Heijkans, Managing director of Docdata Benelux.
