Thunderhead Standardizes on RenderX Software

Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif. and LONDON, June 7 -- RenderX, Inc., the first company in the world to roll out a Java-based, commercial grade XML rendering engine, today announced that Thunderhead Ltd., the provider of highly-usable, standards-based document generation technology, has selected the RenderX XEP software package to provide clients an integral component for rendering XML content to PDF and PostScript for high volume printing capability. Based on open standards and built purely around XML, Thunderhead's platform puts business users in control of the document generation process and so automates and accelerates the creation of personalized documents such as loan agreements, trade confirmations, insurance claims letters, sales proposals, contracts and wealth reports. RenderX's XEP engine, also based on open standards, converts XML documents into a printable form by applying XSL Formatting Objects styling. XEP is written in Java and supports industry-standard programming interfaces for XML processing, allowing for high-volume printing of complex data. "We are very pleased to be entering this strategic partnership with RenderX", said Glen Manchester, Thunderhead CEO. "We examined the whole market of XML printing technology, and determined that RenderX offers the most scalable and easily integrated component for our multi-channel publishing solution. Using the Thunderhead platform, our financial and insurance customers are now able to generate and print millions of pages daily. Our customers also demand the highest quality for printed documents and RenderX's software exceeds their expectations." Thunderhead also solves the problem of synchronizing documents and business communications across multiple channels, including Web, email, SMS, PDA and even interactive television. By integrating the RenderX XEP engine, Thunderhead customers can dynamically publish this content to PDF or PostScript for high-speed output. Once created, the platform intelligently re-purposes a document according to the unique characteristics of the channel and the preferences of each customer. The result is highly targeted and contextual multi-channel communications originating from a single system. "Many of the largest global financial services and insurance companies use RenderX software for dynamic document publishing", said Kevin Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for RenderX. "In speaking with these customers, we realized that many have been searching for exactly what the Thunderhead platform provides, namely a single solution for managing the generation of high-volumes of document communications. Therefore, it was a natural partnership for both parties. Thunderhead can extend their platform to complete multi-channel publishing -- from content creation and management through all forms of delivery -- using RenderX software to meet their print publishing requirements."
