Diamond Packaging Wins Six Awards in 72nd Annual Paperboard Packaging Competition

Press release from the issuing company

Awards showcase Diamond’s folding carton decorating capabilities, including printing, foil stamping, and embossing.

ROCHESTER, NY – Diamond Packaging won six awards in the 72nd annual North American Paperboard Packaging Competition, the industry’s premier showcase for all that is new and outstanding in paperboard packaging design and technology. Awards were presented last month at the PPC Fall Meeting and Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, IN.

The competition, sponsored by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) and judged by a jury of packaging professionals, industry experts, and professors, is a celebration of the industry and its creative potential. It is also an affirmation of paperboard as the clear and intelligent choice for packaging in today’s eco-conscious world.

Diamond won a Gold Award for Elizabeth Arden's 5th Avenue NYC Premiere carton. The packaging features metallized polyester board and intricate foil stamping and embossing accents. The brilliant, mirror-like finish of the substrate makes it a perfect choice for conveying the stunning graphics.

The carton was converted utilizing metallized polyester board and offset printed with purple, dense black, and opaque white inks, in-line with DiamondTouch soft touch coating. The overall DiamondTouch soft touch coating provides an appealing tactile quality that promotes consumer interaction. The high gloss foil stamped and embossed accents on the front and rear panels add distinction and reinforce 5th Avenue as a luxury brand.

The combination of color and textures differentiate the design from other fragrance cartons and beautifully complement the design of the primary container – a glass bottle with tall clean lines, purple color palette, and gold infused cap.

Diamond won an Excellence Award for its 2015 corporate calendar, a long-standing company tradition and popular promotional item given to customers and suppliers. The stained leaded glass-themed calendar transforms the old world craftsmanship of a hand-drawn design by infusing it with modern finishing touches.

The calendar was converted utilizing Clearwater Candesce® SBS paperboard and offset printed with four color process inks and three spot colors, DiamondTouch soft touch coating, aqueous coating, and UV gloss spot coating.

The header features a stained leaded glass design enhanced with UV gloss spot coating and a foil embossed lead outline, creating a dramatic sense of texture and depth. DiamondTouch soft touch coating provides a striking contrast to the multi-level embossed date and the spot UV gloss finish surrounding it. The middle backers feature three unique sets of foil embossed patterns, each enhanced with UV gloss spot coating. The calendar’s recyclable shipper faithfully simulates a grand entrance doorway, right down to the wood and stone design and gatefold panels.

The tightly-registered, foil embossed lead outline lends authenticity to the piece and showcases the type of decorative effect that can elevate customers’ brands. Metal Magic provided all of the foil stamping and embossing dies.

Diamond won an Excellence Award for Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea Cucumber carton.

The carton was converted utilizing Tullis Russell Trucard 0 matt recycled paperboard and offset printed with four color process and two PMS inks, in-line with UV matte and DiamondEmboss specialty coating. DiamondEmboss coating enhances the logo and text, and provides a striking contrast to the matte finish surrounding it. Tightly registered multi-level embossed accents (cucumber slices, flower petals, logos, text) beautifully complement the eye-catching graphics.

Diamond won an Excellence Award for Elizabeth Arden’s Taylor Swift Incredible Things carton.

The carton was converted utilizing Neenah Paper Royal Sundance Brilliant White Felt paperboard and offset printed with seven colors, in-line with UV matte coating.

The textured, felt paperboard and rich palette of watercolors transform the inspired graphics into a work of art that perfectly complements the primary container – an opaque white bottle, decorated with a watercolor print of Taylor’s silhouette profile.

A gold foil stamped and multi-level embossed “13” medallion on the top panel reflects the significance of the lucky number to the music star and matches the fragrance bottle’s finely crafted gold cap, which is also embossed with her signature “13”.

Diamond won an Excellence Award for Five Star Fragrance Company’s Pierre Cardin gift set carton.

The QuikSet™ carton was converted utilizing FSC-certified metallized polyester board and offset printed with brown, red, blue, and opaque white inks, in-line with UV matte varnish and UV high gloss coating. The matte varnish on the lid provides a striking contrast to the high gloss finish surrounding it. The multi-level embossed interwoven ribbon pattern on the lid adds distinction and reinforces Pierre Cardin as a prestige brand.

Diamond’s QuikSet™ design is an attractive and economical alternative to rigid set-up boxes, featuring a reinforced base and lid, direct application of graphics and stamping or embossing, flat shipping and storage, and easy set-up. With crisp, clean lines and outstanding strength, QuikSet™ is a perfect choice for gift sets or promotional items.

Diamond won an Excellence Award for L’Oreal USA’s L'Oreal Paris RevitaLift Miracle Blur folding carton.

The carton was converted utilizing FSC-certified Invercote G paperboard and offset printed with two process colors, transparent gold, dense black, flexo white, and opaque white inks, in-line with UV high gloss coating. Red foil stamping decorates the front and side panels. Holographic foil stamping on the front and top panels gives the illusion of depth and three-dimensionality. Decorative embossing enhances the L'Oreal logo on the front and top panels.

All of Diamond’s winning entries were manufactured using 100% clean, renewable wind energy and produced in a Zero Manufacturing Waste to Landfill (ZMWL) facility.
