Working Without Waste Conference Addresses Issue of Waste in Label Printing and Converting

Press release from the issuing company

The first Working Without Waste conference took place in Heidelberg, Germany on 5 November 2015

Working Without Waste brings together key suppliers to the label industry in an effort to resolve the main issues of waste in label printing and converting businesses. AB Graphic, Avery Dennison, AVT, Flint, GEW, GSE and Martin Automatic hosted their first event on the subject of how to identify sources of waste and how to deal with them in order to stay profitable and competitive.

The seminar addressed on a wide variety of topics around the question of how to minimise waste by choosing the appropriate equipment and proper work practices. The speakers convincingly argued that the effective use of machinery and resources is a key element in the overall reduction of energy and material consumption and can be a contributing factor in considerable productivity increases.

The Europe-wide roadshow consists of a series of educational conferences with a presentation by each member on how to minimise waste by operating the right equipment and adopting appropriate work practices. Each event is held in a different European city in conjunction with another label industry convention or exhibition. Labels & Labeling magazine is associated with the events and has started publishing a series of technical articles on waste reduction.

Looking back the conference was successful, attracting over 30 delegates from the label printing industry in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and provided a great opportunity for technical exchanges and networking for all participants.

In his closing message the day’s host Wolfgang Klos-Geiger of GeigerMedien announced that the group will organise further seminars throughout Europe starting in February 2016. The next event will be held in Daventry, England on 10 February followed by an international event at Avery Dennison’s headquarters in the Netherlands on 17 February.

Conference attendance is free of charge for printing and converting professionals. Please register in advance as delegate numbers are limited.
