Saskatchewan Printer Picks Agfa for Quality, Reliability and Service

Press release from the issuing company

Ridgefield Park, NJ – June 1, 2004 – When a Canadian printing company decided to make the move to CtP, the company realised it wasn’t only important to get a high quality platesetter. Impact Printers, based in Regina, Saskatchewan, felt it was also important to go with a vendor that has a reputation for success and service. As such, the company recently purchased Agfa’s :Palladio, a 4-up automated violet laser-based platesetter, and Agfa’s :Sherpa 24m for inkjet proofing. Enter Agfa – Again. Impact Printers, a multi-million dollar printer with 19 employees, first got involved six years ago with Agfa by purchasing a :SelectSet 7000 imagesetter. Shortly thereafter, Dave Moscaliuk, Impact’s owner and CEO, realised that CtP was the future of print, but at the time, the numbers didn’t add up. In order to begin the transition to fully digital production, Impact invested in Agfa’s :Apogee workflow. With the backbone of the CtP system now in place, Impact decided the time was right for Agfa’s :Palladio. Complete System and Excellent Service. Ultimately, it was Moscaliuk’s experience with Agfa’s service, and the overall high reliability of Agfa equipment, that sold him on Agfa again. “I wanted one supplier. Considering we are in a fairly remote location geographically, I did have to worry that, in the event of a problem, multiple vendors would be blaming each other, and I, meanwhile, would be down without my equipment,” Moscaliuk said. “My confidence in Agfa is very high. My :SelectSet was great, but for the few times it needed service, Agfa came in, fixed it and we were up and going right away.” As expected, the :Palladio also made Impact Printer’s production department more efficient. “It cut four to five hours of film preparation down to one hour of plate making time. With the platesetter, we hit “print” and walk away,” Moscaliuk said. “Agfa is very pleased and excited that a company of Impact’s calibre has chosen to raise their productivity with our integrated solution,” said Julian Mills, national marketing manager, Agfa. “We’re confident that the continued partnership we enjoy will have significant impact in the market.” Agfa’s :Palladio is a fully automated, 4-up violet laser-based CtP system. The :Sherpa 24m is Agfa’s consistent, reliable and affordable contract proofing solution.
