Press release from the issuing company

The following is a joint statement by Lisbeth A. Lyons, vice president of Government Affairs for Printing Industries of America, the world’s largest graphic arts trade association, and Joseph E. Lyman, president of Great Lake Graphics Association, regarding today’s election of Mr. Paul D. Ryan to Speaker of the House.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Printing Industries of America (PIA) and Great Lakes Graphic Association (GLGA) wish to congratulate U.S. Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District upon his election today as the 62nd Speaker of the House. GLGA is particularly honored to congratulate Speaker Ryan on the historical honor of being the first Wisconsin representative to hold this prestigious position.

“Speaker Ryan is highly respected on Capitol Hill—across the political aisles and between both the House and Senate—for his deep policy knowledge and for his serious, workmanlike approach to legislating on behalf of his constituents and country,” said Lisbeth Lyons, vice president of Government Affairs at PIA. “He knows Wall Street; he knows Main Street. And coming from a top paper and print state, Speaker Ryan understands the printing and graphic communications industry and its impact on the nation’s economy.”

“Speaker Ryan has always demonstrated an open door policy to GLGA printers both on Capitol Hill and back home in the First District,” said Joseph E. Lyman, President of GLGA. “Wisconsin printers have always appreciated Speaker Ryan’s willingness to consider the industry’s viewpoints on policy issues and his recognition of our industry as a key manufacturing force in the state.”

PIA and GLGA look forward to working with Speaker Ryan in his new role and stand ready to work with all members of the House of Representatives as they grapple with key issues facing the industry and the country.”
