GEW (EC) Limited reports on a successful Labelexpo Europe where the company’s ArcLED hybrid UV curing system made its debut to the international label industry.

Malcolm Rae, GEW’s Managing Director, comments: “The activity on our booth and at the show at large far exceeded our expectations. We are delighted to have found that at Labelexpo 196 GEW UV lampheads were used on working demonstrations with OEMs, an ample majority that firmly positions GEW as the leading UV supplier in the industry.” And Rae adds: “Visitors to our stand acknowledged and complimented the performance and innovative features of our ArcLED hybrid UV system.”

By developing ArcLED, the first truly futureproof hybrid UV curing system, GEW has addressed the needs of many printers: ArcLED enables an investment in arc technology today to be upgraded later with LEDs using the same lamphead casing and the same power supply and control. The printer simply adds LED cassettes, connects water-cooling and the RHINO ArcLED power supply automatically recognises which type of cassette is installed and then on the same press seamlessly switches the power supply from high voltage AC for the arc lamps to DC power for the LEDs.

An investment in GEW’s ArcLED UV system protects that investment into the future by ensuring an LED upgrade can be simply and cost-effectively implemented. It also gives the option to run a fully flexible hybrid curing system.

The ability of fast and uncomplicated switching is a key feature of the ArcLED UV system, a technology that GEW is the only manufacturer to fully implement today.

GEW won the Label Industry Global Award for Innovation for companies with up to 300 employees. GEW impressed the judges with its RHINO electronic power supply which has been developed to enable the lowest possible operating cost for a UV curing system, operating at 95% energy efficiency to provide an extremely low energy consumption, the lowest carbon footprint and the lowest utility bill.
