Roland’s Best Service Engineers from Around the World to Compete in the Upcoming Roland DG Global SE Awards Finals

Press release from the issuing company

Irvine, Calif. – A select group of 21 Roland Service Engineers (SEs) from 18 different countries – the winners of various regional SE Awards contests held throughout the world earlier this year – will be heading to Roland DG headquarters in Hamamatsu, Japan to compete in the Oct. 20-22 Global SE Awards 2015 finals and the coveted title of “World Champion.” The Global SE Awards is a competition created by Roland DG to recognize the contributions of its service engineers and raise the quality and uniformity of the services they provide to the highest possible level.

Roland DG conducted the first competition of this nature in 2008, however, that contest was limited to Roland service engineers residing in Japan. In 2013, the event was opened up to SEs from Roland subsidiaries around the world to support and acknowledge Roland DG Care activities on a global scale. The finalists will compete against each other in a series of rigorous inkjet printer related tests and challenges over two days. A Roland DG judging panel will evaluate the product knowledge and troubleshooting skills of each competitor, and upon conclusion of the event, one Roland SE will be declared champion. This year, two finalists from U.S.-based Roland dealerships – Greg Hulbert, with Florida Graphic Supply in Clearwater, Fla., and Terry Carpenter, with Far From Normal in Fargo, N.D., will make a run at the title.

“All of the certified Roland Service Engineers that will be heading to Hamamatsu have earned the right to be there by out-performing their peers in the regional finals, noted Rick Scrimger, president of Roland DGA. “Now, it’s a matter of determining the best of the best. It’s safe to say these are the top inkjet printer service engineers in the world, as Roland is renowned for providing the highest levels of service and support in the industry. The competition will be stiff, and when the dust clears, there will only be one SE standing. We’re rooting for the two finalists from the U.S., of course, but every one of these talented professionals is capable of winning.”

Roland DG implemented its SE Certification Program to ensure that Roland customers worldwide receive quality service that exceeds their expectations. Through this program, SEs are taught how Roland DG products are built and receive in-depth product installation, inspection, repair and maintenance training. They receive certification only after passing extensive practical and written examinations that prove they possess the required skills and knowledge. The Roland DG Global SE Awards competition not only showcases the abilities of the company’s certified technicians, it also draws attention to Roland’s ongoing commitment to consistently providing unsurpassed service and support.
