Consolidated Printing Turns to Enovation to Go Computer-to-Plate

Press release from the issuing company

VALHALLA, N.Y. (May 2004) – For Consolidated Printing, a general commercial printer based in Salina, Kan. they knew the time would come when they would need to make the move to an all-digital workflow. That time came earlier this year and they looked to their Enovation partners for advice. “Fuji and Enovation have been great partners for us and we’ve enjoyed a longstanding relationship with them,” says Curt Krob, art director and prepress supervisor at Consolidated Printing. “They’re the first supplier that really showed concern for my business. Even though the name’s changed, the face of the person helping me has remained the same. We’re business partners, but we’re also good friends.” As part of the transition to a CTP workflow, Consolidated Printing installed several new Macintosh G5s with 23” monitors, two Epson 10600 digital proofers, a Tekgraf Doubleproof and the 8-page Fujifilm Javelin Luxel CTP II thermal platesetter. “It’s an awesome piece of equipment,” Krob says of the Javelin. “We specify 200 line screen for all of our four-color work and we pride ourselves on being a quality color printer and the Javelin helps us do that.” Consolidated chose the Luxel T-9000 CTP II to compliment the Komori presses in their plant. Consolidated runs multi-color sheetfed offset presses up to 40”. “Our customers have come to expect the very best quality and turnaround from Consolidated Printing. There’s a reason why customers from Alaska to Boston, Chicago to Dallas come to us… we always deliver!” boasts Krob. Krob says selecting the Fujifilm Javelin was a “no-brainer.” He explains, “We trusted the Fuji product and we knew we could trust the resources. Fuji has always served us well. They give us good, quality products and the technical team is always responsive to our needs.” Krob adds that the transition to the new workflow was also very smooth. “I saw that as being a major change to our workflow and, to say the least, I was concerned and a bit anxious about it. But, it went very smoothly,” he says. “It’s been seamless.”
