SG360° Chosen as Beta Site for Komori's Anticipated Impremia IS29

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, -Komori America Corporation announced today that leading direct marketing solutions provider SG360°, a Segerdahl company, will be the beta site for Komori's much anticipated sheetfed inkjet Impremia IS29. Equipped with UV technology, the Impremia IS29 is a 29-inch inkjet press that operates in perfecting or straight mode, does not require pre-coated paper and runs at speeds of 3,000 sheets per hour in straight mode. As it enters the digital market, the Komori Impremia IS29 inkjet device is the first of its kind-an inkjet, sheet-fed, UV device that runs a 23x29 inch sheet, ideal for six-up print production with full variable print capabilities.

"SG360° is proud to have the opportunity to partner with Komori as they bring exciting new technology into this market space. We are a Komori facility so we can fully appreciate the innovation this technology offers when it comes to filling the gap between both mainstream offset and digital with its ability to run a larger sheet size on a variety of substrates from thin to thick," said Anthony Ferruzza, senior vice president and general manager for SG360's Gillman facility. "We plan to use the IS29 for short runs where size is a factor, like eight-page booklets. Not having to make plates not only reduces set up time and materials cost, it will get us to market faster with some amazing color output.

Leveraging their expertise in precision sheetfed press manufacturing, Komori designed a new sheet transport system, a new cylinder configuration, as well as a new sheet reversal mechanism to enable high-speed two-sided printing that delivers superior quality output unlike any digital press on the market today.

"We have enjoyed a great working relationship with SG360° for years. Their business has grown dramatically and so have the demands of their impressive customer base. The capabilities of the IS29 will match up with those demands: higher quality, greater substrate flexibility and variable data printing," said Meishi Tsuya, executive vice president of sales for Komori America. "We are thrilled that SG360° will be our beta site and our partner as we continue to push the envelope of inkjet technology."
