Wallace Carlson Installs Komori GL840

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, -Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of printing solutions, announced that Wallace Carlson, a woman-owned commercial print provider with more than 80 years of history built on exceeding expectations, has purchased an eight-color Komori Lithrone G40 press with H-UV (GL840) to expand capabilities at its Minnetonka, MN facility. The company chose the press for its intuitive technology and subsequent efficiency that virtually automates the production process.

"We needed a press that delivered outstanding color and fast turnaround. This press will cut our set-up time by over 40 percent and increase our speed by 40 percent, all while maintaining the excellent quality we are known for delivering," said Brian Turbeville, president of Wallace Carlson. "Komori is the only manufacturer that offers a dual camera system that holds the color specs with virtually every sheet, so we can produce jobs like high-end four-color catalogs with the closest you can get to zero defects."

Wallace Carlson's new GL840 is equipped with full-APC (fully automatic plate changing system) that operates by sequential control to enable the fastest plate changing and Komori's dual-camera PQA-S system (in-line print quality inspection system for sheetfed presses) that detects printing defects, which is particularly important for companies like Wallace Carlson that produce high-end applications. Additionally, Komori's H-UV system complements the company's goal for overall pressroom efficiency with inks that are more environmentally friendly and cure instantly, making it possible to go straight from the press to bindery.

"Our philosophy is quick throughput with fewer touches, optimizing every efficiency possible. After 30 years in this business, I was absolutely amazed when I saw what the GL840 and H-UV system could do," said Charlie Cox, COO for Wallace Carlson. "Komori has really figured it out. This is a 'one-and-done' press. It is that sophisticated."

"We are more than excited about Wallace Carlson's decision to purchase a fully equipped GL840 with  H-UV because we know it will set the company even farther apart from its competition than it already is," said Jacki Hudmon, senior vice president of sales for Komori America. "It is a powerful press that eliminates misprints, color shifts and drying time, all of which will support Wallace Carlson in meeting its goal of improved efficiency and job turnaround times."
