When did G7 become a "color matching" method?

By ELIE KHOURY on Sep 21, 2015

Hi Gordon, thank you for your question.
G7® calibration brings various devices to a common gray balance and near-neutral state,
Prints produced with G7® calibrated devices have what is agreed-on to call a “shared appearance”, in this case all colors do not necessarily match.
However, if you add ICC profiling and color management into the workflow and use G7® for process control, all in-gamut colors will match.
Alwan solutions allow both strategies to be implemented, printer can chose which one to use depending on the required color accuracy.
Xeikon Color Services can do both, whereas Jeroen's statement.

Perhaps, for clarity's sake, Jeroen Van Bauwel should instead have said: "We are pleased to complement our Color Management Services with the G7 grey balance methodology thanks to the Alwan solutions".
