GPO on Track to Report Historic Low EEO Complaints

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) continues its commitment to providing employees a discrimination-free work environment. As FY 2015 comes to a close GPO has had eight formal equal employment opportunity (EEO) complaints filed, which represents a 53% decrease from FY 2014 and an 84% decrease from FY 2013. The complaints represent the fewest number filed since FY 1998.

Diversity in the workplace and minimizing and resolving EEO complaints is an ongoing commitment of GPO’s Strategic Plan. GPO’s Equal Employment Opportunity office is central to that commitment, providing counseling sessions and educational seminars on EEO-related issues and welcoming feedback to improve the agency’s workplace environment. The office also promotes initiatives and events that bring together employees to recognize GPO’s diversity. In addition, GPO takes proactive measures to address issues at the lowest possible levels.

“These results show programs and plans in place by GPO’s EEO office are translating into positive achievements for our employees.” said GPO Director Davita Vance-Cooks.  “I am proud of the policies and training the agency has implemented throughout the year, which creates an environment where employees look forward to coming to work each day.”
