Lake Image Systems Awarded Graph Expo 2015 Must See ’Em for Second Year

Press release from the issuing company

HENRIETTA, N.Y - Lake Image Systems Inc., the leaders in data integrity, verification and print quality inspection systems, have been awarded a Graph Expo 2015 MUST SEE ’EM for the second year running, for its Discovery MaxScan, a new compact scanning technology for high speed, high quality document inspection. Entries in the MUST SEE ’EM competition were reviewed by a panel of industry experts, journalists and consultants who based their choices on the impact they believe these technologies will have on the industry. The Discovery family of products, including MaxScan will be on display in the Lake Image booth #2263 and in partner booths during Graph Expo, September 13-16 2015 in Chicago.

Discovery MaxScan is an exciting new addition to the Discovery family. Single lens line-scan cameras suffer from angular variation from the center to the edges, which makes reading variable data on wide web presses and inspecting for print defects challenging especially for high quality VDP applications and highly reflective surfaces (i.e. holograms, foils etc.). MaxScan solves this problem by using a revolutionary compact scanning technology, comprising of a series of CMOS image sensors, lens and illumination arrangement along its entire length that produces clear, uniform and sharp 600dpi image definition. These advances enable this compact unit to operate at working distance of just 12mm (1/2”) and reduces the required headroom to less than 130mm (5”), even with webs in excess of 900mm wide.

Combined with the Discovery MultiScan Manager, any number of Discovery software tools can be deployed to conditionally read, control, inspect, verify, log, track and report for any job – providing 100% quality inspection and print data integrity.

With digital print resolutions increasing, the compact Discovery Maxscan easily integrates within the transport system of all digital printers, label presses and finishing equipment, without the need for costly additional rollers, redesigned web paths or complex optical assemblies typical with standard camera inspection technologies. This enables very small print defects to be detected immediately after the print heads rather than at the end of the press. Furthermore, degradations in print quality can be analyzed in real-time, and inspection data can be fed directly to the printer controller, enabling it to either make real-time print registration or color adjustments, or start a recalibration/cleaning process, increasing overall print quality.

Graph Expo visitors will get a unique insight into how MaxScan can meet the integrity and print inspection needs of real-world applications and how they can be integrated cost effectively into multivendor production environments. You can also see Discovery MaxScan in the Xeikon booth #849 where it will installed on its new Xeikon 9800 dry toner digital color press, itself a winner of a 2015 MUST SEE ’EM Award.

“We are clearly delighted and honored to receive another MUST SEE ’EM Award.” says Scott Stevens, President for Lake Image Systems Inc. “These awards provide valuable guidance to Graph Expo 15 attendees who are looking for solutions to their business issues. We believe that MaxScan is a winning innovation and we welcome all attendees to visit our booth and see why.”
