Polestar Chooses RealTimeProof

Press release from the issuing company

Düsseldorf, Germany - Stand 5D24: Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) announces that the Polestar Group has installed RealTimeProof Express at two of its gravure production sites. The on-line proofing system is accelerating colour press approvals on the range of News International titles they manage, including the Saturday and Sunday Times magazines. The Polestar Group is currently considering implementation of RealTimeProof Express at its other plants, ensuring this technology is available to its entire customer base. "We chose RealTimeProof Express because we consider the software the best, 'tried and tested', on-line proofing tool in the marketplace," remarks John Stevenson, Customer Care Director at Polestar Greaves. "We are confident we have chosen the most advanced proofing tool available for our customers." The first beneficiary will be News International, the publisher who prompted Polestar to invest in RealTimeProof in the first place. "We have a strong partnership with News International and work very much in tandem on new technologies," continues Stevenson. "They have recently introduced a digital advertising delivery and preflighting system called Quickcut, and want to continue the online approval and colour control process all the way through to the pressroom. RealTimeProof Express will remove the need for time-consuming hard copy proofing cycles and will also provide an audit tracker of their digital assets." RealTimeProof Express has been installed at Polestar Varnicoat in Worcester and Polestar Greaves in Scarborough in the first phase of implementation, and will be personalised with the Polestar logo. With a workstation loaded with RealTimeProof Express – fully calibrated with the appropriate profiling - and a 23- LCD screen on each of the four gravure presses at each site, Polestar can complete a sign-off and press check in the briefest amount of time. "The time we will save will generate significant benefits for everyone - not only our customers, but in pre-press and the press room as well," comments Stevenson. "To date, we send hard copy Cromalins overnight with a 24-hour turnaround. RealTimeProof Express will mean a job can be viewed, marked-up and signed off within an hour if necessary," adds Stevenson. "We are looking forward to using these innovative proofing tools and foresee considerable advantages. We are sure our customers will also recognise the benefits." Alex Granat, KPG RealTimeProof Regional Sales Director says, "We are delighted that Polestar has selected RealTimeProof Express, and are convinced it will deliver Polestar and its customers the best online approval management system to manage their complex and high volume production." RealTimeProof is the leading suite of web-based proofing solutions providing accurate image quality for monitor and remote proofing. Using breakthrough patented streaming technology, Pixels on Demand, gigabytes of high-resolution files can be viewed in seconds, even over a dial up connection. Users need only a web browser on a Mac or PC and a free, downloadable, plug-in to proof their original files from anywhere, at anytime. The GATF award RealTimeProof technology is the standard for online proofing in major workflows and is now integrated in workflows from Heidelberg, EFI, Esko-Graphics and Artwork Systems.
