SMP Group become magazine house with printing of leading insight publication ‘HATCH’

Press release from the issuing company

Award winning POS & OOH print house SMP Group have gone from print supplier to print publisher, with the release of the first printed issue of the Group’s insight publication ‘HATCH’ Magazine.

Following on from the tremendous success of the Group’s recent thought leadership evening, ‘HATCH LIVE’, which not only celebrated the new collaborative venture of the ‘HATCH’ brand between SMP and its sister agency Breed, but shone new light and perspective on the world of retail – the print group based in Woolwich, South East London have now brought the story of ‘HATCH’ full circle with the printing and delivery of the magazine.

The magazine which features editorial contributions from Breed, SMP Group, home appliance brand Whirlpool, sport footwear brand Asics, and a host of retail technologists and experts – is another step in SMP Group’s continual evolvement as a retail solutions provider.

New Business Director of SMP Group, Darren Jarvis shared his enthusiasm over the printing of the magazine, hailing the magazine’s production as a new chapter in the Group’s already illustrious history; “Here at SMP Group, we’re thrilled that we’ve been able to demonstrate another capability as a print house with the printing of ‘HATCH’ Magazine.  With the printing of ‘HATCH’, we’ve presented SMP Group as more than just a printer in the retail world, but as a group who are inspired by innovation and continually strive to be leading marketing strategists, as well as effective solution providers.  With our 80-year history, we treat the past as our legacy, but never as our ethos going forward as a business.  Retail is an ever-changing world and despite our standing in our industry, we know we must always stay ahead of the game and constantly look for new ways to excite and inspire our client base.  ‘HATCH’ Magazine is a perfect example of creating a piece of marketing collateral that stands out from the crowd.  What other POS provider can say they’ve just released a magazine?”

Strategy Director of SMP Group and its creative arm and sister agency Breed, Ian Irving, reflected on the great job SMP Group had done with the printing of the magazine and how the ‘HATCH’ brand is reflective of the SMP Group and Breed merging together as a creative force: “With my past experience in producing magazines, I was over the moon when I saw the finished printed product of ‘HATCH’ Magazine.  As strategist for the SMP Group and Breed, I couldn’t be prouder of the great work we’ve done on the magazine from an editorial, design and production perspective.  The creation of this magazine is a perfect example of the SMP Group and Breed coming together as one and presenting themselves as true thought leaders in the retail industry”

Marketing Manager of Breed and ‘HATCH’ Editor, Chris Henry added his delight to the chorus of positivity over the creation of the magazine: “As Editor of ‘HATCH’ Magazine, it is a great feeling to see it printed and become a real physical entity.  A huge well done and thank you has to go to SMP Group who have done an incredible job in printing the publication and ensuring the magazine’s vivid colour and powerful imagery is captured perfectly.  In a world where we see digital becoming more prominent in the publishing world, it is so refreshing to see a new print title launched, and one that captures the imagination of its readers.”

HATCH Magazine is printed 4pp cover on 350gsm Essential Silk Board with outer spot UV varnished + 96pp text on 140gsm with an Essential White Offset.  It’s Finishing was fold, gather and PUR bound.

500 copies of the magazine will be delivered in a HATCH branded box. The box is printed on 170gsm Silk and mounted onto E Flute – matt laminated and spot UV varnished.
