Appleton Coated Offers Publishers and Printers New Greener Substrate Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Combined Locks, Wis. – Appleton Coated extends its environmental leadership in publishing papers with the launch of three publishing paper advances.

Mike Baker, Appleton Coated’s executive director publishing papers, explains, “We have three exciting developments to share. Appleton Coated is now manufacturing Utopia Book® Inkjet with 50% Post Consumer Recovered Fiber (PCRF) and with Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® (FSC® C007796)) certification. These enhancements to Utopia Book Inkjet are standard, with no upcharge. We have also developed a new grade line, Utopia® Green Book. Offered in both 50% and 90% PCRF, this product is well-suited for textbooks and all publishing needing a strong sustainability message.” Baker continues, “We are also pleased to be offering Recycled Book Offset, a 100% PCRF uncoated offset grade. The product development was based on requests from book publishers as well as in response to trends in state guidelines for increased recycled content in educational materials. It also ties to our commitment to leadership in environmental publishing products.”

Baker adds, “These new products make it easier for our customers to offer greener print and publishing solutions to their clients. The Utopia Book Inkjet has the added benefits of the same high quality as our standard PCRF products with no price difference.”

Utopia Book Inkjet is offered in a range of basis weights from 45 lb to 80 lb text.

Utopia Green Book 90 and Utopia Green Book 50 are available in 40, 45, and 50 lb text weights.

Appleton Coated Recycled Book Offset is offered in 45 lb text weight.
