Lake County Press buys Wicklander assets: Expands Chicago Presence

Waukegan, IL, May 10, 2004 / Lake County Press, Inc. today announced that it has acquired certain assets of the Wicklander Printing Corporation, a premier full service sheet-fed printing company based in Chicago. Lake County Press reported $38 million in sales in 2003 and expects a significant increase in its revenues as a result of this acquisition. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.  “Since 1934, Wicklander Printing has been a strong force in the Chicago-area print industry,” Ralph Johnson, CEO and President of Lake County Press, said. “We welcome Jim Wicklander and members of his team to Lake County Press and are excited about the opportunities that they bring to the table. One immediate benefit will be a sales office located in Chicago, closer to many of our customers.”   He added, “Combining the expertise of our two organizations will allow us to deliver even greater value to all of our customers. As we strategically grow our business, we will be able to continue to reinvest in the cutting-edge technologies that offer our customers the highest level of quality and service that have resulted in our success to date.”  Jim Wicklander, President of Wicklander Printing, stated, “In addition to offering state-of-the-art technology, Lake County Press has a tradition of delivering quality, craftsmanship and outstanding service to its customers. We are thrilled to be joining this fine organization and look forward to offering our customers the best of both companies.” The services of Venture 10 were utilized to coordinate and complete the transaction. Lake County Press, Inc. was founded in 1970.  Today, it is the largest, privately held sheet-fed commercial printer in the Chicago area, employing more than 180 people in its 125,000 square foot facility in Waukegan. The company also maintains a sales office in Chicago. Lake County Press offers a full range of printing-related services, from pre-press and planning to complete fulfillment capabilities, and has a national reputation for high quality printing, servicing customers all across the country.
