Press release from the issuing company
Boxmeer, Netherlands - SPGPrints (stand 8A10) will present live demonstrations to show the business-transforming potential of its DSI® digital UV-inkjet press and workflow at this year’s Labelexpo Europe (Brussels 29 September – 2 October, 2015). The company also highlights computer-to-plate and computer-to-screen imaging, and rotary screen printing technology for labels and packaging.
Available in widths from 135mm to 530mm (5” to 21”), the DSI press is a high-performance alternative for print runs up to 5,000LM (15,000 linear ft) and variable data printing. CMYK, intermediate inline LED pinning stations and chill drum are standard. In addition to the four process colours, the press can be specified or latterly extended with up to six extra stations, including orange and violet to make 90 percent of the colour gamut, digital white with industry-leading 93 percent optical density, and a digital primer. A full range of semi-rotary converting options can be included in-line too. SPG’s proprietary UV-inkjet inks offer UV-, chemical and scratch-resistance, and include low-migration options, fully compliant with safety standards for safe food / pharmaceutical packaging.
SPGPrints offers extensive technical support, preventative maintenance and intensive training to ensure customers adopt the digital workflow fast and deliver brand-enhancing and business-transforming products and services to label users.
Bas Hoijtink, commercial manager graphics ant SPGPrints comments: “Our digital offering, combining press specification, modularity, our own specially optimised UV-curable inks, and long term support throughout the press lifetime has proved its value in numerous retail packaging and industrial markets. We have helped label converters off their brand owner customers high-value services such as short-runs, and multi-versioning, variable data, batch traceability, prototypes on demand, as well as high impact graphics. The live demonstrations will give stand visitors to appreciate at first hand, how our workflow and support makes this possible.”
variLEX CTP / CTS processor: a simple, single digital workflow for HD flexo, dry-offset and screen
SPGPrints’ variLEX hybrid CTP (computer-to-plate) and CTS (computer-to-screen) processor gives the label and packaging industry a single, digital imaging solution for high-definition flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress printing formes.
variLEX can be equipped with a multi-beam diode laser system for ablating the black mask and/or a multi-beam diode laser system to directly expose UV-sensitive materials like screens. Its integrated inline exposure system, unique to the variLEX, facilitates ablation and exposure in one step. This eliminates the need for offline exposure and ensures sharp printing results.
The machine accommodates different mounting cylinders to handle all common plate and screen material available on the market. These include a black anodized vacuum cylinder for flexo plates, a magnetic cylinder for screens and letterpress plates, and a hybrid cylinder (vacuum and magnetic) to handle all materials.
The system comes with SPGPrints’ unique software solutions, including the company’s database-driven on-the-fly RIP system. This allows use of all common graphics industry file systems.
