Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh, PA, May 11, 2004—The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation announces a new conference on digital workflow on August 29–September 1 at the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh, PA. The development of this conference reflects the belief in the industry that a company’s ability to adopt sophisticated digital workflows will determine its future. “It became clear in the last year, particularly with the excitement surrounding JDF and computer-integrated manufacturing, that digital workflow prowess is a major point of differentiation among companies,” says James A. Workman, PIA/GATF’s director of training programs. The conference program will address a broad spectrum of workflow issues. Designed to provide managers with the practical knowledge to evaluate and apply new technology and procedures to streamline and leverage digital production workflows, the agenda includes case studies, Great Debates, and roundtable sessions that will provide technical knowledge as well as practical knowledge and experience. The conference will be organized into three tracks designed with relevant information for: • Content Orginators • Company Executives • Manufacturing Managers Among the highlights will be three cases studies featuring progessive printers and their customers. In addition, there will be Great Debates exploring both the new role of content originators and the different approaches used by printers to streamline their overall worlflow. Some of the breakout sessions planned include: • The 10 Commandments of File Creation • Is CIM/JDF a Reality or Fantasy? • Automated File Validation and Submission Issues • Does It Matter How and Where I Print It? • Proofing in a Virtual World • Infrastructure Issues for Rock-Solid Workflow Performance • New Options in Press and Bindery Automation This conference will appeal to any organization attempting to discover the dynamics of strategic workflows that will change the course of the graphic communications industry.
