PROFIT and Chatelaine unveil 17th annual list of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada - PROFIT and Chatelaine today ranked YaJun (Carol) Jiang, president of Beneco Packaging, No. 53 on the 17th annual W100 list of Canada's Top Female Entrepreneurs. Published in the June issue of Canadian Business (available now) and online at PROFITguide.com and Chatelaine.com, the W100 ranks female entrepreneurs with a proprietary formula that considers the size, growth rate and profitability of the businesses they own and run.

Jiang oversees Beneco Packaging, one of the leading packaging firms in North America, as well as its subsidiary, SoOPAK, a short-run custom packaging program, in which orders start at one to 5,000 boxes with no die or plate charges. SoOPAK provides fast delivery on high-quality printed boxes for entrepreneurs to small businesses and large corporations.  The firm caters to large corporations in need of a small run to test the market or a start-up that needs a small batch of folding cartons for its new product. It distinguishes itself by offering exciting, vibrant and affordable options.

"You need a bold vision, an innovative strategy and loads of tenacity to earn a spot on the W100,” says James Cowan, editor-in-chief of PROFIT and Canadian Business. “Every person on this list represents the pinnacle of business success in Canada. Their stories are inspiring and instructive for those seeking to excel as an entrepreneur."

“Beneco Packaging is honoured to be listed on the W100 ranking,” says president YaJun (Carol) Jiang. “This achievement reflects our belief in our products and services as well as the dedication of our team. What sets our company apart from the many packaging manufacturers in North America is our specialty: short-run packaging. We concentrate on orders under 5,000 boxes, providing the ease of ordering online, with production facilities in North America, and charging no die or plate fees. Beneco Packaging is able to accommodate smaller businesses that do not need as many boxes, bags, or other packaging materials. We offer our customers high quality and versatile packaging options designed to meet a very wide range of needs.  Our reputation as a short-run packaging specialist allows us to offer the best prices for custom folding carton orders under 5,000PCs.  The bottom line is that SoOPAK is the place to turn when you need the highest of quality, fast delivery, and, of course, an exceptional price.”

Jiang established Beneco Packaging in 2004 in a modern 45,000 sq ft facility in Mississauga to provide packaging for businesses in Toronto and the surrounding area. Catering to the cosmetic, food and confectionary, entertainment, pharmaceutical, stationery, sport, and consumer product markets, the firm is equipped with the latest printing and finishing services including structural and graphic design, prepress, offset printing, embossing, die cutting, window patching, folding, and gluing. The firm’s growth exploded between 2008 and 2014 posting an impressive 114 % increase. During this time, exports made up 28 % of its sales. In 2014, the 30-employee firm ranked number 377 on the prestigious Profit 500 list as one of the top 500 Canadian companies in the country in terms of revenue growth.

“The women on the 2015 PROFIT/Chatelaine Ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs aren’t just inspirational figures—they’re smart business people who have demonstrated the tenacity and creativity needed to thrive as entrepreneurs,” adds Cowan.

The PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs ranks female business leaders according to a proprietary formula that combines the sales, three- year revenue growth rate and profitability of their businesses. All data is verified through financial statements supplied by candidates. To qualify, candidates must be owners or significant stakeholders who at least share chief decision-making capabilities.
