Left Dakota Launches Link-O-Lator 2.0

Press release from the issuing company

LOS ANGELES, June 2, 2004 – Left Dakota, the Los Angeles-based color management software and consultancy company, has released a full-version upgrade to its flagship product, Link-o-lator, the world’s pre-eminent program for creating specialty ICC-device links. Link-o-lator 2.0 offers more than 29 new features, including support for Macintosh OS X, 100% black overprint protection, pure channel dot gain compensation, paper white scum-dot elimination, CMY profile support, the ability to select profiles from any location, and the ability to preserve 100% red, green and blue for color bar protection. “This is an exciting upgrade. We’ve enhanced most of our features, and added many new options as well,” says Eric Magnusson, president of Left Dakota. “Some of the new features include our unique black point compensation, which can be applied to any rendering intent (including absolute colorimetric), as well as the ability to begin absolute colorimetric rendering at 1%. These added features make our ICC-links valuable for ink jet proofing, as well as file repurposing and high-end digital dot proof control.” Many printers and prepress shops throughout the country are taking advantage of Link-o-lator to enhance their control of the color-matching process to their desired target conditions. Because Link-o-lator was developed with the high-end digital dot proofer in mind, it respects many of the unique requirements of that technology, including: • preservation of pure contaminate-free cyan, magenta and yellow. • preservation of pure black-only text, blends and drop shadows. • preservation of special colors such as registration black. • achievement of more consistent results, regardless of platform. • building of black point compensation directly into the link. • scaling of the luminance of any pure color channels. The list price for Link-o-lator 2.0 is $1,995. Customers who have already purchased Link-o-lator v 1.0 will be automatically upgraded to version 2.0 at no charge. Those customers should return their original dongle to Left Dakota (and include a return air bill) and the dongle will be upgraded to version 2.0 and returned. Link-o-lator is distributed by Enovation Graphic Systems, Inc., Pilot Marketing and Left Dakota, is sold online by Chromix Inc., Colormall and Colormanagement.com, and is resold by most of the country’s leading color management consultants. ICC-device links are supported by all the major workflow products including: Creo Brisque and Prinergy, Nexus 7, Harlequin, Screen Trueflow, Rampage and by many of the leading inkjet proofing RIPs including: Iris, Onyx, Wasatch, Oris, Scanvec Amiable and the upcoming versions of EFI/Best’s RIPs.
