i-Sub gives first look of end-to-end packaging system with Mimaki CFL605RT flatbed cutter

KETTERING, UK - i-Sub is the first Mimaki distributor to install the new Mimaki CFL605RT flatbed cutter in its showroom, enabling real-time demonstrations of the system in conjunction with i-Sub's exclusive Digi-Foil digital foiling solution, incorporating the Mimaki UJF-6042 desktop printer.

The new Mimaki CFL605RT flatbed cutter is designed as an all-round cutting and plotting system for on-demand packaging development, signage, labels, decals and much more suitable for substrates including coated board, soft foam material, synthetic leather, vinyl, PET sheet and many more substrates. It also features a creasing and folding option and a pen tool for creating line drawings.

The system offers a number of options including a tangential cutting tool for PET and such media, a reciprocating cutting tool for thicker materials and an eccentric cutting tool for thin substrates like coated board or PVC, plus a creasing roller which enables carton creation. In addition, thanks to its mark-sensor for accurate cutting, back side cut function for the best front finish, and vacuum and roll holder units to keep media in place, the Mimaki CFL605RT works to provide high-quality, professional packaging and virtually any other product depending on the capabilities of the chosen media being used. It has a safety-conscious and sturdy yet transportable construction, plus a user-friendly work area.

Used with the Mimaki UJF-6042 UV-LED inkjet printer and Mimaki Rasterlink software, the Mimaki CFL605RT cutter offers a complete solution for original goods production. Furthermore, introducing i-Sub's Digi-Foil innovation to the process provides an even more advanced system.

Comprised of a Mimaki UJF-6042 desktop printer, a heated applicator and foil material, Digi-Foil enables the creation of foil effects for packaging prototypes and personalised products, identical in appearance to those produced by traditional dies and foil presses but in a fraction of the time. From design inspiration to finished mock-up in under ten minutes – with significantly less waste – Digi-Foil accelerates packaging development processes.
