Pantone And Colorvision Deliver Color Monitor Calibration

Press release from the issuing company

DUSSELDORF, DRUPA - 6 MAY 2004 - Pantone, Inc., the global authority on colour and provider of professional colour standards for the design industries, will show two monitor calibrators at Drupa that enable users to ensure the colours they see on their computer screen are accurate and consistent from day-to-day, and image-to image. The two calibrators, which are now even more affordable for European customers due to market success and volume discounts, include the Spyder with PhotoCAL software, aimed at amateur photography enthusiasts and designers; and the SpyderPRO with OptiCAL software, designed for demanding professional design users. Professional-Grade Quality for Photo Enthusiasts with Spyder In today's digital darkroom, monitors - even new models - need calibration on a regular basis to ensure that colours on screen are accurate and consistent. The Spyder from PANTONE COLORVISION is an all-digital, seven-filter colorimeter incorporating wizard-based PhotoCAL software. The Spyder calibrates LCD and CRT monitors to a universal standard for colour, in a process that more closely matches the human eye response than conventional colorimeters. The end result is a monitor that displays accurate colour and lets users trust what they see on their screen. The Spyder, with easy-to-use PhotoCAL software, is designed for photography enthusiasts. It guides the user step-by-step through the calibration process, allowing them to choose monitor settings - for example, gamma and colour temperature. A feature that balances a monitor's RGB guns is also available. SpyderPRO Satisfies Demanding Professional Users SpyderPRO with OptiCAL software satisfies the more stringent demands of professional users and is particularly useful for users in digital darkrooms, studios or design agencies who rely on their monitor to make colour decisions, or use them to preview and finalise designs for print or the Web. The OptiCAL software incorporates advanced calibration applications such as a wider choice of gamma and colour temperature targets, curve manipulation, precision and expert control modes and information windows. SpyderPRO also includes advanced features for adjusting calibration parameters for a single monitor or calibrating multiple monitors to a common standard, while creating industry-standard ICC display profiles compatible with colour-aware applications such as Adobe Photoshop and others. Pricing The market success and volume shipments of the Spyder and SpyderPRO mean that Pantone is now passing savings to its European customers. Spyder is available for €169 excluding VAT, but is being specially offered at Drupa for €135 excluding VAT. SpyderPRO is €249 excluding VAT, but is specially offered at Drupa for €199 excluding VAT. Both come bundled with Adobe Photoshop Album.
