Quark joins CIP4 to help set standards for end-to-end publishing workflows

Press release from the issuing company

DÜSSELDORF, Germany (Drupa) -- May 10, 2004 -- Quark Inc. today announced its membership in CIP4, an international association that defines standards for the integration of prepress, press, and post-press processes. As a member, Quark recognizes the importance of integration between applications in publishing content and is eager to take an active role in defining standards like Job Definition Format (JDF). "There's an extremely clear benefit to Quark's membership in the CIP4 organization. Our aim is to extend the value of JDF upstream as far as content creation, and downstream to manage delivery of final printed content," said Martin Bailey, CEO of CIP4. "With Quark's participation, we're taking a big step towards reaching that goal, and the millions of QuarkXPress users around the world will reap the rewards." "JDF is a very powerful tool that makes it easy for vendors to work together to form seamless workflow solutions, and CIP4 is leading the development of this initiative. Quark has joined the organization as part of an ongoing effort to help publishers deliver content in a more streamlined, cost-effective manner," said Quark senior vice president of product development Jürgen Kurz. "As print-run lengths get shorter and print jobs become more complex, the need for a standard mechanism to carry end-to-end job specifications has become crucial. As a CIP4 member, we're going to do our utmost to ensure that creative professionals can achieve new levels of productivity as a result of broad support for this open workflow standard."
