Taylor Bloxham Group Stops the Press for New Investment

Press release from the issuing company

Taylor Bloxham Group stopped production for one hour and invited their employees to join them for cake and sandwiches to celebrate the new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105.

Taylor Bloxham Group have invested in a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105. The new 12 colour press will increase capacity by 30% and has brought an influx of new jobs to the Group. All of which is part of their strategy to cope with the ever growing demand for print. To celebrate the launch of the new press the Group invited the City Mayor, Peter Soulsby, local MP Liz Kendall and Northampton Saints rugby player Phil Dowson to their Stop the Press event.

The colour monitoring technology in the Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 recognises any deviations in colour and makes the necessary adjustments to ensure maximum consistency over the entire run.

It’s been a six month effort at the Group to ensure everything was ready for the installation of the new press. Prior to the arrival of the Heidelberg Speedmaster, the Group invested in two new pieces of machinery as part of their long-term plan for efficiency. They installed a new stitching device and laminator to save on outsourcing and to improve efficiency at the Group. Alongside this, new waste disposal systems and ink tanks were installed to reduce costs and minimise overall wastage.

Altogether the new press weighs over 100 tonnes, it has foundations 1.7 metres deep and the installation filled 11 skips of earth, used 3 tonnes of steel and 90 tonnes of concrete.

Chris Bowen, CEO commented,

“The installation of this press marks another milestone in our group wide strategy and is focussed on ensuring that we stay at the forefront of supplying our customers with high quality, cost effective solutions.”

Wesley Sykes, Technical Director commented,

“This is a very exciting time for the company as we install our new 12 colour Speedmaster XL press with Cut-Star. The press has been installed with all the latest technology which will give the company 40% increase in productivity over its existing Speedmaster 102 machine.”
