Veritiv Opens Entries in the 2015 Canada National Design and Print Excellence Awards Program

Press release from the issuing company

TORONTO, ON - Veritiv – a leading national distributor of commercial printing and imaging papers – is pleased to announce the call for entries in the 2015 Veritiv Canada National Design and Print Excellence Awards (uVU).  Veritiv was established in 2014, following the merger of International Paper Company’s xpedx division and Unisource Worldwide.

“The uVU Veritiv Design and Print Excellence Awards highlight the top designers and print providers in Canada,” said Jason Alderman, Regional Vice President – Canada for Veritiv.  “To distinguish themselves from the crowd, design studios and printers are producing more innovative, cutting edge and creative work than ever before.  Our uVU Awards program provides an opportunity for winners to celebrate with existing clients while broadening their exposure with potential clients.”

Entries will be reviewed in July and judged in 23 separate categories.  Judges will make decisions based on design excellence; communication strategy; print quality and appropriateness of paper; and use of photography, illustration, and typography.

Slated to review the entries is a panel of five judges, including:

  • David Walker,  Founding Partner & Creative Director,  St. Bernadine Mission Communications, Vancouver
  • Kelly Hartman, Creative Director, Designer, Hartman Design Studio, Calgary
  • Tony Ponzo,  Associate Creative Director, Design john st., Toronto
  • René Clément, Art Director, Paprika, Montréal
  • Nicolas Boissy, Creative Director, orangetango, Montréal

All entries must have been produced in full or in major part between June 17, 2014 and June 12, 2015, and printed on paper purchased from Unisource Canada, a Veritiv company.  Deadline for submissions is June 15, 2015.

Please visit www.veritivcorp.com/uvu  to submit an entry form and view detailed information on submissions and guidelines.

Award entry participants will be competing for a unique opportunity to showcase their work in the Veritiv uVU traveling exhibit, which will make stops in Calgary, Montréal, Toronto, and Vancouver later this year.  In addition, all entrants will receive a Veritv uVU Catalogue featuring all of the winning entries.  This year’s uVU Call for Entry poster and envelope were designed by lg2boutique of Montréal and printed by Montréal’s Imprimerie L’Empreinte on Yupo Synthetic Paper and Domtar HOTS!
