ISA’s Sign Expo ’15 Marks North American Debut of 72-Inch Rhotex 180 TR Textile Printer

Press release from the issuing company

LAS VEGAS – Durst, the leader in production inkjet innovation for industrial imaging and print communications, is at Sign Expo ’15 this week debuting its new industrial dye sublimation “soft signage” printer.  The right-sized, 72-inch Rhotex 180 TR is designed for the efficient creation of sportswear, home textiles, POP displays and a variety of other fabric/textile output for which a width up to six feet is sufficient.

Durst also is featuring its Rho P10 250HS UV Inkjet Digital Flatbed Printer, the most versatile and productive 10-picoliter hybrid printer on the market.  Both platforms are fully operational in Durst’s event booth (#2746) throughout Sign Expo ’15, which runs April 9-11 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

“The Rhotex 180 TR is the third and latest component of our leading Rhotex soft-signage platform, and our first foray into transfer printing,” said Brent Moncrief, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Durst U.S.  “Our Rho P10 250HS exemplifies Durst’s overall value proposition – combining high speed, exceptional image quality, proven durability and the flexibility of running rigid or roll media.  Sign Expo attendees wanting to take on today’s most challenging, innovative applications will find solid answers in the Rhotex 180 TR and Rho P10 250HS.”

Durst also will conduct a press conference to discuss today’s soft-signage market, “and ensure that print service providers in the U.S. and Canada are ready to take advantage of what we see as a significant growth segment,” Moncrief said.

Topics also include Durst’s current activities in the U.S. region, and an overview of the company’s production digital printer and inks portfolios.  Joining Moncrief at the podium will be Fabian Sottsas, Global Roll-to-Roll Product Manager for Durst Phototechnik AG.  The press conference is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (pdt) in Room Coral C of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Rhotex 180 TR

Durst’s technological competence in large-format imaging is combined with advances in textile printing in the Rhotex 180 TR.  The printer – equipped with Durst’s patented QuadroZ print head technology – achieves a maximum print resolution of 1,200 dpi.  It has a maximum print width of 72 inches and a maximum production speed of 2,150 s.f./hr., and employs eco-friendly, water-based, odor-free dispersion inks free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The transfer printing process of the Rhotex 180 TR provides an alternative to the direct-print process of the Rhotex 322 and Rhotex HS – an alternative that is especially popular in the North American market.  Calendaring makes dispersion inks evaporate from the printed sublimation paper into the fabric, where it compounds fully with the material.  This indirect printing process produces output results that are especially abrasive-resistant and water-resistant.

Rho P10 250HS

The P10 250HS features Durst's Quadro Array 10M Variodrop print heads with a very high nozzle count.  They produce an unrivalled “fine art” print quality at a resolution of up to 1,000 dpi from a printer capable of running at output speeds of more than 4,000 sq.ft./hr.  A true hybrid printer, the Rho P10 250HS delivers consistent, high-quality results on both rigid and roll media – with minimal time and effort required to switch substrates.
