HP Showcases Digital Publishing Portfolio at Drupa 2004

DUSSELDORF, Germany--May 7, 2004-- Showcasing its leadership in digital publishing at the graphic arts industry's preeminent tradeshow here, HP is demonstrating its entire portfolio of color imaging and printing solutions for the industry, including enhanced lines of digital presses and large-format printers, along with products and workflow solutions from dozens of partner companies. The experience at HP Stand 4C23 in Hall 4 illustrates the advantages of HP's digital solutions for creating effective customer communications -- from strategy and design to accurate color proofing and exceptional full-color collateral, printed fast and on-demand. Visitors during the show's two-week run will see dynamic demonstrations of how HP is helping companies all over the world grow their businesses and become more profitable. Transforming the digital print production experience with HP Indigo presses For medium- to large-size commercial printers that want to take advantage of the significant opportunities in digital printing, HP offers a complete line of digital publishing products to produce personalized, real-time targeted marketing materials. Its new seven-color HP Indigo press 5000 (expected to be available late 2004, early 2005, depending on the region) is designed for increased volumes and cost-effective color printing productivity. This press, along with the new, competitively priced HP Indigo press 3050, is being added to the company's existing line, which includes the HP Indigo press w3200 and the entry-level HP Indigo press 1000. Also a part of the Indigo line is HP's industrial digital presses, which include the HP Indigo press ws2000, the HP Indigo press ws4000 and the HP Indigo press s2000. The HP Indigo press ws4000 is the world's most successful digital label press and the HP Indigo press s2000 provides a digital option for screen printers. All of HP's Series II presses, which include the HP Indigo press 5000, the HP Indigo press 3050, the HP Indigo press w3200 and the HP Indigo press ws4000, are PANTONE-licensed. A critical offering to the graphic arts community, this capability ensures color consistency with more than 1,144 PANTONE colors and matching of corporate brand colors. Better business development Helping commercial printers create new business opportunities to drive print volume across the value chain of the digital publishing industry, HP now offers a business development program of customized consulting, training and support services. For the first time, HP customers will be able to enroll in a mix of virtual and face-to-face classes, ranging from "traditional" printing and imaging processes for newcomers, to in-depth courses on how to sell digital print and how to build a digital printing business plan. Individual consulting also is available for customers who complete a personalized needs assessment. In addition, HP offers a "welcome kit," a comprehensive package of digital publishing startup tools, for customers who own the HP Indigo press 3050 or HP Indigo press ws4000 products. The kit includes publishing templates, print samples, subscription services, partner and solutions information, and a supplies ordering and tracking system, among other tools. Copier-based multi-function products feature HP's leading network manageability The HP 9085mfp offers high-volume printing and copying combined with reliability and versatility while reducing operation costs. For greater production capacity with the possibility of variable data printing, the HP 9085mfp has an output speed of 85 ppm and is built for production levels up to 750,000 pages per month. Designed for production color printing and copying locations in medium- and large-size businesses, central reprographics departments, quick-printers and copy shops, the HP Color 9850mfp delivers color quality and performance at a highly competitive cost. HP's first high-speed color printer, the unit prints and copies up to 50 pages per minute reliably and easily. Expanded large-format supplies portfolio -- new display graphics media, enhanced site Advancing the display graphics market, HP has created innovative media designed for brilliant output and versatile use. HP's new inkjet media makes the process of creating display graphics more efficient, driving down costs and helping businesses increase graphics production. The new additions to HP's already expansive portfolio include the groundbreaking HP Two-view Cling UV media, HP Instant-dry Indoor Banner Gloss, HP Universal Instant-dry Photo Gloss and Semi-Gloss media, and HP Premium Plus line of media.
