New Matchprint Inkjet Proofing System From KPG

Press release from the issuing company

Düsseldorf, Germany - Stand 5D24: Announcing further significant enhancements to its inkjet proofing solutions portfolio, Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) today launches a new version of its SWOP certified Matchprint Inkjet Proofing System — Matchprint ProofPro 4P Printing System. Additionally, KPG is showing, for the first time, its unique Matchprint ProofPro DirectScreen inkjet module which faithfully reproduces screened data onto an inkjet printer for proofing of one bit tiff files prior to production. The KPG Matchprint ProofPro DirectScreen inkjet module represents the most genuine demonstration of inkjet reproduction of screened data reproducing better dot-for-dot fidelity than other similar, inkjet halftone reproduction systems. The DirectScreen module directly controls the dot using KPG's Constrained Multi-dimensional Transform technology (CMT). This allows the user to produce colour managed dots without introducing new dots where there are none in the input files. DirectScreen technology preserves the presence or absence of colorants from input data to the output step and provides a more faithful reproduction of the screened data and superior color matching to other one-dimensional technologies. "With the unveiling of DirectScreen technology, KPG is demonstrating the robustness of inkjet technology. Now our customers can bring their inkjet printer into the pressroom to check for colour, dot placement and moiré with an accuracy and repeatability that only Matchprint can offer," notes Jeff Jacobson, KPG CEO. This technology, being demonstrated at drupa, will be available for release later in the year. Matchprint ProofPro 4P Printing System - KPG's cost-effective, turnkey proofing system - includes the new Matchprint ProofPro RIP Version 1.0, a Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer, Matchprint ProofPro Inks and Matchprint Media, and is designed to provide improved productivity and independence to users - from brand owners, advertising agencies and publishers to small- and mid-sized printers — who need to produce high quality, long-lasting proofs quickly and cost-effectively. With the system, users can produce A1 size proofs in 12 minutes and A3 size proofs in four minutes. Comments Jeff Jacobson: "The Matchprint ProofPro system is designed to help those users who need an easy to install, use and maintain system at a cost-effective price but one which will produce high quality and durable proofs. With it we have taken all of the hassle out of the proofing process for them." Matchprint ProofPro RIP Version 1.0 is based on Adobe's CPSI technology and offers assured compatibility with the most recent PDF file formats as well as improved efficiency throughout the workflow. KPG's Color Fidelity Module (CFM) colour management software and Matchprint profiles ensure accurate colour reproduction, true spot colours and truer black reproduction than any other RIP in its class. The RIP also incorporates KPG's proprietary colour technology, resulting in improved colour and image control, consistent and accurate proofing results, and Matchprint ColorLink technology which offers spot colour, dot gain control for more accurate reproduction of spot colours. The Matchprint ColorLink technology includes an easy access library of frequently used spot colours. The ProofPro RIP ensures faster and more accurate linearization through the new Matchprint Calibrator system based on colorimetric data. This easy-to-use linearisation wizard provides customers with improved grey balance and overall more control and accuracy. In addition to the Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer, the RIP supports additional inkjet printers, including new devices from Canon, HP and Epson. KPG's Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer using new ProofPro Inks & Matchprint Media brings quality output and excellent reliability to inkjet proofing. The printer supports the user friendly focus of the Matchprint ProofPro 4P solution whilst still ensuring accurate and long lasting results from proof to proof. The Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer is ideally suited for the four-up CtP market. Based on HP technology, the network-ready ProofPro 2610 printer is a versatile 24" printer. It features a four picoliter drop size, six-colour printing technology and can handle a variety of quality modes from 600 x 600 dpi for posters and banners to 2400 x 1200 dpi for high- quality proofs. ProofPro 2610 has automatic printhead alignement for maximum colour consistency. Matchprint ProofPro Inks are formulated for longevity and colour trueness for proofing applications. The dye based inks resist fading and provide rich, deep and accurate colours and good colour stability for proofs in minutes. When used with the ProofPro RIP and Matchprint Media, the inks provide deep and true blacks unmatched by any other system. Matchprint Media is available in both Commercial and SuperWhite tints and offers fast drying time and unmatched longevity. KPG also announces new Matchprint ProofPro Media. This new line begins with a pigment-compatible substrate that will run on Epson Ultrachrome, Canon UV and HP UV printers. The Matchprint ProofPro Media for pigment delivers instant drying and improved inkjet coating and paper/ink synergy for excellent, long term colour stability, image quality and accuracy. This product is available in three tints - SuperWhite, Commercial and Publication —in roll or sheet form.
