Horizon Details Plans At Drupa

Press release from the issuing company

May 6, 2004 (Dusseldorf, Germany) –Horizon International has launched a series of new CIP4/JDF-enabled finishing solutions under the theme of “Think Automation” at drupa 2004. Highlights include: - CIP4/JDF-enabled “i2i” finishing products, including folders, binders, cutters, saddlestitchers, and more. Horizon will demonstrate a robust new CIP4/JDF-enabled automated workflow dubbed i2i. The system provides bar-coded tickets for easy job management, the ability to save and recall recurring jobs, job record data for accounting and analysis, and the ability to monitor job status of i2i-connected machines in real time from a central console. These bindery products aim to leverage the value of finishing parameters that can be input at the point of job creation, allowing jobs to flow seamlessly from the eye of the creator to the eye of the beholder (hence the name “i2i”). - Horizon HOF-30 ultra-fast sheet feeder for precollated digital output (up to 27,000 sheets/hour), providing production speed and flexibility for digital print environments. The Horizon HOF-30 can be combined with Horizon SPF-20 or SPF-30 class saddlestitching systems. By adding a collating tower, these systems can effectively serve print shops that have both offset and digital printing under one roof. - Horizon AFC folder accessories include a new Continuous Pile Feeder, for uninterrupted folding production; a new Palette Feeder unit for cut-sheet press environments; a Mobile Knife Fold unit for application flexibility; and a Press Stacking & Semi-automatic Bundling unit for folded packages that are pressed, counted, and banded for easier handling. These add-ons strengthen Horizon’s expanding floor-model folder line by providing long-run convenience and ergonomics, with complete automation under the “i2i” workflow. The Horizon i2i system integrates with a variety of print production workflows, so i2i solutions will also be demonstrated at the Creo Scitex (Hall 4, B10), Screen (Hall 4, A33), and Ryobi (Hall 16, C3) stands. The Horizon ColorWorks 2000 in-line bookletmaker for DocuColor 6060 and the Horizon BQ-270 automated off-line perfect binder will also be shown on the Xerox stand (Hall 13). According to David R. Reny, vice president and managing director, Standard Finishing Systems, “Horizon now offers complete automation in each significant post-press category, with the option to integrate these products into a larger automated workflow or simply benefit from the savings of touchscreen automation. Horizon continues to lead the pace in fast, easy set-ups for maximum short-run efficiency.” Horizon is located in drupa Hall 13, Stand B13/35. North American visitors to drupa are urged to contact Standard Finishing Systems to pre-arrange a time for a product line overview.
