New Xerox Wide-Format Printing Systems Offer Engineers and Architects Benchmark Image Quality

Press release from the issuing company

DUSSELDORF, Germany--May 6, 2004-- Xerox Corporation today introduced two new black-and-white wide-format printing systems that deliver benchmark image quality and the smallest footprint on the market. The Xerox 6030 and 6050 Wide Format systems are designed for printing and scanning architectural or construction plans, architectural or engineering renderings, and GIS (Global Information Systems) maps for the engineering, architecture, construction, government, and manufacturing industries. They also are designed for print shops serving these industries. Xerox launched the systems today at drupa 2004, the quadrennial international printing trade show. "Engineers and architects want fine lines rendered precisely in their prints and copies, and these systems deliver at 600 x 1200 dpi, demonstrating Xerox's continued commitment to the wide-format business," said George Hebert, vice president and general manager, wide-format business unit, Xerox Production Systems Group. "Plus, with easy integration into existing customer workflows, these products can fit flexibly into almost any print environment." The Xerox 6030 and 6050 Wide Format systems are each available in three different configurations. Each system can be purchased as a printer or copier/printer with one of two different controllers, or as a printer with a separate, color-enabled network scanning system. The systems offer a choice of monochrome and color scanners, with scanning resolutions up to 600 x 600 dots per inch. The systems also eliminate background defects through their automated background suppression feature to deliver clear copies and fine lines even from worn originals. System Details The Xerox 6030 produces as many as six "D-size" (24" x 36") images per minute; the Xerox 6050 produces as many as nine. Both models provide productivity features including concurrent printing, copying and scanning, and the ability to manage multiple rolls of paper for long print runs, in a variety of paper types and sizes. The Xerox 6050 also can be loaded with paper while it's running. A touch-screen interface helps people save time in scanning and copying drawings, and a sample copy feature allows people to print a test copy of a document before they make, for example, 50 printouts. The controller offered with the Xerox 6030 and 6050 Wide Format systems can be integrated with leading workflow systems and supports most input data formats. The optional Xerox AccXES controller provides PostScript and PDF printing support and easy integration into existing AccXES environments. Pricing and Availability The Xerox 6030 and 6050 are available for immediate order taking and June delivery in Europe and North America from the Xerox direct sales force and authorized dealers and distributors. The U.S. manufacturer's suggested list price for the Xerox 6030 starts at $23,000 and $29,000 for the Xerox 6050.
