Promens Pumped After Lions’ Lair Win

Press release from the issuing company

Promens were crowned Lions’ Lair champions at this year’s Packaging Innovations, which ran alongside Empack and Label & Print on Thursday 26 February at Birmingham’s NEC. The company was one of four courageous competitors who pitched their most innovative products to a panel of packaging experts.

The panel of Lions (judges) included: Adam Mings, Packaging Innovation Manager at 2 Sisters Food Group and Richard Savage, Co-Founder at Retail in Action.

Promens was the first competitor to enter the Lair, pitching its revolutionary product, Slidissime. The tactile ‘touch & slide’ pump with revolutionary airless technology designed for the cosmetics industry wowed judges and attendees alike. The Slidissime combined beauty and luxury with unrivaled airless protection. On winning the Lions’ Lair accolade, Cecile Pompili from Promens commented:

“It was an honour to be up against three strong competitors in the Lair, all with brilliant products. It is however great to say we are the winners! It shows how relevant the Slidissime is to the UK market and that there is a real hunger within the cosmetics industry for a prestigious airless jar.”

The three other companies who took part in the competition were TSS Technology, Milliken Europe and Duncan Print.

Milliken Europe looked to impress the judges with its new Millad® NX™ 8000. An innovative, transparent and ultra clear polypropylene packaging, which elimates the often milky appearance. It gives polypropylene a clarity boost that overcomes the undesirable cloudy appearance in thermoforming and injection moulding, creating highly-attractive transparency for sheet and finished applications.

Third into the Lair was TTS Technology with its Peret Corrcheck. A new product that not only improves the quality of carton manufacture in the corrugated box-making industry, but in the production of the corrugated material too. Corrcheck is an optical, high precision measurement device, with a physical measurement resolution of 0.003mm, capable of capturing five pictures in a line to calculate an area of 4cm width.

Also challenging for top honours was Duncan Print, who showcased its new Branded Football Food Packaging. The creative idea allows football ground to brand their chips trays, burger boxes and more with the club emblem, allowing them to make the most of every branding opportunity.

The Lions’ Lair formed part of the highly anticipated showfloor entertainment that took place at this year’s show. Once again the event grew in size, attracting record-breaking numbers of visitors and exhibitors, along with major names such as Nestlé, Sainsbury’s, Mondel?z, Fake Bake and M&S speaking as part of the Learnshops seminar programme.

The next Easyfairs packaging event will be Packaging Innovations London & Luxury Packaging, which moves to London Olympia on 16 & 17 September 2015. For anyone interested in exhibiting, more information can be found at www.easyfairs.com/pi-london
