Agfa Bundles Color Management, Quality Management and Media for Exceptional Proofing

Press release from the issuing company

Düsseldorf, Germany – Drupa – 5 May 2004 – Just because you don’t have a :Sherpa doesn’t mean you can’t get :Sherpa-quality proofs. The :SherpaProof RIP is an Agfa proofing RIP for PostScript and PDF workflows based on Adobe’s Configurable PostScript Interpreter (CPSI). The package also contains Agfa's colour management and quality management as well as proofing media. The software package will allow users who do not have Agfa’s fully-integrated :Sherpa proofers, to high-quality proofs on Agfa qualified third party engines. The :SherpaProof RIP uses :ApogeeX technology to drive the Epson Stylus 4000, Stylus 7600 and Stylus 9600 models, as well as the HP Designjet 30 and 130. The :SherpaProof RIP package will be demonstrated at Drupa and will be available for purchase in Q4 2004. The :SherpaProof RIP software package incorporates ICC profiles made with Agfa’s :ColorTune Pro colour management software, that automatically compensates for differences in colour ranges between the proofer and the press. It also includes Agfa's quality management technology, to ensure printing engines are optimised to produce reliable proofs. Agfa’s wide assortment of specialised proofing media completes the package. The :SherpaProof-branded media are essential to the :SherpaProof RIP application. “The :SherpaProof RIP package is an important choice to offer the marketplace. Proofing is more and more critical to producing quality jobs and we at Agfa feel it is important to help customers produce the highest quality output,” said Willy Van Dromme, worldwide director of marketing for proofing. “With the :SherpaProof RIP package, more printers can take advantage of Agfa’s :SherpaProof technology.”
