Canon Europe Introduces the Océ VarioPrint i300 High Speed Sheetfed Inkjet Press

Press release from the issuing company

LONDON – Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, is today introducing the Océ VarioPrint i300, the first high-speed sheetfed inkjet press in the company’s portfolio of production printing solutions.

Based on innovative inkjet technology, the Océ VarioPrint i300 fills the speed and capacity gap that exists between conventional high-end toner-based cutsheet printers and entry-level continuous-feed inkjet presses.  By doing so, Canon Europe helps print businesses to find the right print solution for their needs and creates new market opportunities and applications.

The Océ VarioPrint  i300 features patented ink, print head and paper handling technology enabling it to print on a wide range of media, including uncoated, coated and inkjet treated paper at speeds of up to 8,500 duplex A4 sheets, or 3,800 duplex B3 sheets, per hour.  The Océ VarioPrint architecture makes the system compatible with the same finishing capabilities as the Océ VarioPrint 6000 series, while its integration with the Océ PRISMA control platform and Océ PRISMASync digital front end unlocks a wide range of powerful digital workflow possibilities.

As part of its Lead Customer Programme, Canon worked closely with global communications business T-Systems to test the potential of the Océ VarioPrint i300.

”We are excited to be, together with Canon, a pioneer for an innovative print technology, being installed for the first time within our company,” said Dr. Thurner, Managing Director, T-Systems DDM GmbH. “Expanding our print facility with this high-production sheetfed inkjet system will enable us to handle many additional applications.”

“Canon is leading the market in high-productivity inkjet with its Océ ColorStream and Océ JetStream platforms, and this is due to a philosophy of innovation and investment,” said Peter Wolff, European Director, Commercial Printing Group, Canon Europe.  “We work closely with leading print providers, and through this we identified the desire for a high productivity sheetfed inkjet system that can work in a variety of automated digital production environments.”

“By combining the outstanding colour and quality of the Océ ColorStream range with the robust architecture and cut-sheet handling reliability of the Océ VarioPrint range, we have created a digital press that offers a huge range of business potential with low running costs, addressing the needs of print businesses in this volume range and giving them the platform to grow their business in the future.”
