manroland web systems names Peter Farmer as Commercial Web print.services Consultant

Lisle, IL – manroland web systems Inc. has appointed Peter Farmer to the position of print.services Consultant, joining the team managing the aftermarket care needs of its considerable Commercial Web installed base in the United States.

Farmer has over 40 years of experience in the printing industry, having begun his career as a letterpress machine apprentice, and working in Sheetfed, Web, and Rotogravure pressrooms. After obtaining his Printing & Business Management degree and City and Guilds of London, with his Certificate in Purchasing and Printing Production Management, he began part time lecturing at the local printing college.  After gaining a professional teaching qualification in Adult & Further Education, he spent 18 years as a full-time professor of machine printing at the Nottingham Trent University, Printing Department, Nottingham, England. He became Head of the Department of Printing in 1989 and spent 5 years in this capacity.

In 1995, Farmer became Manager of Training and Technical Publications for a manufacturer of offset press equipment, and was responsible for the management of the department and sale and delivery of training worldwide. In 1999, he was promoted to Director of Training and Technical Publications.
