EFI Presents Next Generation JDF-Driven Workflows at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

DUSSELDORF, Germany--May 5, 2004-- EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, will demonstrate JDF-integrated technologies at drupa in its booth (Hall 4, Stands B34/B40), in the CIP4 JDF Parc (Hall 4, Stand A33) and in partner booths throughout the show. The CIP4 JDF standard job ticketing language enables interoperability across the printing process. EFI is actively incorporating JDF across its product line to link print MIS systems to web submission, prepress and production workflow solutions through to digital and offset presses. This interoperability allows EFI customers to build open, end-to-end systems for computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) and effectively streamline print operations for maximum productivity and profitability. "Connecting job ordering to print production to print management systems brings enormous efficiency, cost savings and productivity to printers, and right now the CIP4 JDF standard is making this concept a reality," said EFI CEO Guy Gecht. "Our focus is on bringing next generation JDF-driven workflows to our customers, allowing them to benefit from open, interoperable systems that encompass the best available solutions to get the job done. We are proud to stand at the forefront of this vital initiative and help further the growth of the graphic arts industry." EFI's JDF-driven workflow demonstrations incorporate CIP4's ICS definitions for JDF connectivity. The integrated workflows will feature: EFI web submission software connected to EFI OneFlow(TM) prepress workflow solution Prepress connectivity between OneFlow prepress workflow software and EFI Hagen OA(TM) print management system Adobe Creative Suite to OneFlow; and Adobe Creative Suite to EFI Balance(TM) for distributed printing across Fiery-driven workflows Third-party press and prepress connectivity between the EFI Hagen OA and systems from Komori, Man Roland, Mitsubishi, Screen and others EFI is proud to be an active participant in the CIP4 JDF Parc, demonstrating multi-vendor, interoperable workflows that include Hagen OA, OneFlow, and Balance workflow software.
