Family-owned, full-service print company founded in 1956 begins the next chapter in its commitment to serving the ever-evolving needs of its customers
DALLAS - Thomas Reprographics has rebranded as Thomas Printworks to best communicate the full-service print company’s complete range of offerings. Originally founded as Thomas Blueprint in 1956 by B.J. Thomas, grandfather of current CEO Bryan Thomas, the company was initially established to serve the architectural, engineering and construction industries. Since then, the company has transformed into a national print services company serving multiple industries, including national brands and franchise groups.
“Changing our name to Thomas Printworks represents a significant milestone in our company’s history and reflects our commitment to continuously innovating to meet our customers’ ever-evolving needs”
Having operated as Thomas Reprographics since 1974 when Bill Thomas took over as CEO for his father, the company has successfully expanded and managed change by continuously investing in the business and advancing with technology. As the family-owned company nears its 60th anniversary, Thomas Printworks operates 25 locations in Texas, Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.
“Changing our name to Thomas Printworks represents a significant milestone in our company’s history and reflects our commitment to continuously innovating to meet our customers’ ever-evolving needs,” said Bryan Thomas, CEO of Thomas Printworks. “Just as my dad changed the company’s name 41 years ago to better address a changing industry, the time is right for us to rebrand again to better describe the complete range of services we offer our clients. Though we’re changing our name, our focus on customer service and continuous innovation remains the same.”
The transition to the new Thomas Printworks name is underway and customers will begin seeing changes at the store level over the next several weeks. New signage, in-store communications and website updates are in process. Additionally, fleets of new Thomas Printworks branded delivery vehicles will be deployed using the same vehicle wrap graphics the company offers its clients.
Today, Thomas Printworks is a national print services company with the ability to scale to the needs of its clients no matter how large or small. With roots serving the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, the company has dramatically expanded its services over the years to also include comprehensive fulfillment and managed print services. Committed to addressing every printing need, Thomas Printworks’ current services range from digital four-color and high-speed black and white printing, to vehicle and exterior graphics, large format digital color and photographic printing, and more.
Much has changed in the print services industry since the company was originally founded. Known as “blue printers” during the 1950s primarily serving the AEC industry, many companies ultimately failed because they did not invest in the new technologies and services necessary to remain viable. In contrast, the Thomas family knew continuous innovation, and investment in new technologies and service offerings were imperative not only to remain viable, but also to meet the evolving needs of the industries it serves.
Three generations of the Thomas family have owned and run the business, making Thomas Printworks’ history truly unique. The company’s current CEO, Bryan Thomas, began working in the family business when he was 13 years old, sweeping floors and performing various tasks as needed. He continued working in the business through college and ultimately joined the business full time after graduating with an MBA from the SMU Cox School of Business in 1994. Bryan’s sister, Brianna Long, also grew up working in the family business and currently serves as the company’s marketing director. Today, their dad, Bill Thomas, is still involved, providing his experience and counsel in terms of helping the company navigate change and growth.
