Muller Martini is distributing this highly productive hardcover casing-in machine in North America

The Mitabook fills the gap between manual and semi-automatic binding equipment and more sophisticated high-volume machines, making it a welcome addition to the production of like-sized products. Muller Martini has announced it will distribute this groundbreaking technology throughout North America, and it will offer live demonstrations of the machine’s unique capabilities at Dscoop, an influential cooperative of HP graphic arts professionals, taking place in Washington, DC, March 5-7.

The Mitabook is manufactured by Swiss-based Photobook Technology (PBTec), which provides solutions for economical, fully automatic production of digitally printed hardcover books in low quantities. The Mitabook is highly regarded worldwide with 50 installations, including several at CEWE, Europe’s premier producer of photobooks. In addition to photobooks, the machine easily accommodates the ultra-short-run digital hardcover needs of juvenile book and yearbook manufacturers, as well as in-plants producing standard hardcover products.

The Mitabook takes just one day to install and seconds to set up, greatly minimizing downtime. What’s more, it is an incredibly robust and dependable machine. During the recent holidays, the peak season for photobook production, not one PBTec service person was dispatched to handle a machine malfunction.

The Mitabook operates via a user-friendly touchscreen. The machine does not use a wing, so scratch marks on inside images are avoided and PUR books can be processed immediately after binding. In addition, the Mitabook’s hot melt gluing system provides instant adhesion and doesn’t require the cleaning of the glue station.

Muller Martini will also distribute Mitacase, an ultra-short-run casemaking solution; Mitafold, a layflat folding system; and Mitamax, a layflat gluing system. PBTec will continue to handle parts and service requests.
