Hammer Packaging reaches agreement with Colter & Peterson on third Saber XXL paper cutter

Press release from the issuing company

Paterson, NJ – Hammer Packaging in Rochester, New York, has ordered its third Saber® XXL paper cutter from Colter & Peterson. Larry Ockenden, Finishing Operations Manager at Hammer, expects to have the custom 75” machine delivered and installed in early March.

Ockenden said the new unit will join two other Saber paper cutters the company has purchased from C&P in the last five years. This includes a similar size 75” machine and a smaller one measuring 62”. Hammer Packaging, a Rochester Top 100 company founded in 1912, uses the Sabers to trim sheets produced on its KBA large format 7- and 8-color roll-to-sheet presses. Most of the higher volume work is printed labels and package decoration for the global food & beverage, horticulture and household products clientele.

“Our relationship with Colter & Peterson goes back many years. They have always been very responsive and help us with technical support over the telephone whenever we’ve needed it,” remarked Ockenden, who has run the label Finishing Department at Hammer Packaging since 1982. “We are very pleased with our current Saber cutters. I’m impressed with the automatic knife changing feature on the machine, and our operators are very familiar with its capabilities.”
